- Children between the ages of 10-12 (each, a “Child,” and collectively, “Children”) who use Uber Kids.
- Teenagers between the ages of 13-17 (each, a “Teen,” and collectively, “Teens”) who use Uber for teens.
If you are a Child or Teen, you may want to read this notice with your parent(s) or guardian(s) (“Parent(s)”).

Uber Kids
This section describes our collections, uses, and sharing of Children’s data, and the rights of Children and their Parent(s) with respect to such data.
1. What information does Uber collect from Children, and when does Uber collect it?
Uber collects:
Data Parents provide us. We collect data about Children that their Parents provide us. This includes their full name, date of birth, trip pick-up and drop-off addresses, and any other information they may choose to provide, such as the Child’s phone number or messages sent by a Parent to customer support regarding their Child.
Data from the driver’s device.
- Audio and video recordings: A Child’s trip is recorded on their driver’s device via the Uber app. These recordings may include both audio and video. The driver will not have access to these recordings. Where available, the Parent can watch a livestream of their Child’s trip in the Uber app.
- Photos: Where available, a Parent may choose to have their Child’s driver take a photo of the Child at drop-off via the Uber app. The driver will not have access to this photo.
Data from the Child’s device. If a Parent provides us their Child’s phone number, we will send the Child an SMS link with information about their trip so the Child can track their ride. If the Child accesses the link, Uber will collect the following data from their mobile device:
- Geolocation data: We collect a Child’s approximate location to confirm that they are on the way to their pick-up destination, and that they are picked up and dropped off at their intended destinations.
- Device and usage data: We collect IP addresses, device IDs, and usage data, such as whether the Child clicks on their trip link, or whether they utilize safety features such as calling Uber support.
- Communications data: We collect data when a Child (i) contacts Uber for customer support to report a safety concern, or other inquiries and (ii) communicates with their driver.
2. How does Uber use Children’s data?
Uber uses Children’s data to book rides requested by their Parents, facilitate pick-up and drop-off, and for safety, security, and fraud purposes, such as to enable available features in Uber’s Safety Toolkit. We also use a Child’s device and usage data for internal operations purposes, such as to conduct analysis to improve our products.
3. Does Uber share Children’s data with anyone?
Uber may share a Child’s data with:
- The Child’s driver: We share the Child’s first name with the driver so they can identify the Child when picking them up as well as their requested pick-up and drop-off location.
- Other adults (as enabled by their Parent): We share the Child’s trip data with others upon request by their Parent. This allows such people to track the Child’s ride, contact the driver, and access safety features on behalf of the Child.
- Service providers: We may share the Child’s data with service providers such as Google Maps (to enable mapping services), Twilio (to enable the livestreaming feature), and ADT (to enable safety features).
- Emergency services or law enforcement: This may include the Child’s name, location, and phone number.
4. Does Uber use, sell, or share Children’s data for personalized advertising?
No. Uber does not use, share, or sell Children’s data for purposes of personalized advertising.
5. Your rights as a parent
You can access and delete data about your Child by going to your Family Profile, under your Child’s profile.
Uber for teens
This section describes our collections, uses, and sharing of Teens’ data, and the rights of Teens and their Parent(s) with respect to such data. Unless otherwise indicated below in the Country-Specific Guidance section, the practices described in this notice apply wherever Uber provides Uber for teens.
1. What data does Uber collect from Teens, and when does it collect it?
Data Teens or their Parent(s) provide. We collect the data that Teens, or their Parent(s), provide to us. This may include:
- Account information: We collect data about a Teen’s account, such as their name, email address, address, phone number, or profile photo.
- Demographic data: We collect a Teen’s date of birth, and may infer or collect their gender to enable Women Rider Preference.
- Ratings and feedback: We collect the ratings and feedback that Teens provide about their drivers and delivery persons, or that drivers and delivery persons provide about Teens. Information on ratings can be found here. Ratings can be seen under the Account menu in the Uber app.
- Survey responses: We collect responses that Teens provide from optional surveys.
Data we collect from Teens when they use our services. We collect data automatically from Teens when they use Uber for teens. This includes:
Location data: If Teens request a ride, we track the location of their driver during their trip, and link that data to their account. This allows us to display to Teens and their Parent(s) where Teens are on their trip.
We also determine a Teen’s approximate location, and can determine their precise location if they allow us to do so through the settings on their phone. If they do, we will collect their precise location from the time they request a ride or delivery until the ride is finished or their order is delivered. We also collect such data when Teens have the Uber app open on their phone’s screen.
Teens can use Uber without letting us collect their precise location by changing their location settings on their device. However, it may be less convenient for them, including because they will have to type their location into their phone instead of allowing us to detect it for them.
Trip and order information: We collect data regarding the trips and deliveries Teens request, such as their trip pick-up and drop-off locations, what they ordered, the date and time of their trip or order, delivery address, and the amount paid.
Communications data: We collect data when Teens (i) contact Uber for customer support, to report a safety concern, or other inquiries and (ii) communicate with their driver or delivery person through the Uber apps.
Audio recordings: In certain regions, Uber for teens allows Teens to record the audio of their trips. If they turn on this feature, audio recordings will be automatically generated and stored on their device. For further information regarding audio recordings, please see here.
Usage data. We collect data when Teens interact with Uber’s apps and websites. This may include pages or items viewed, when they accessed the app, and search history.
- Device data: We collect data about phones or other devices Teens use to access our services, including IP address, device identifiers, and information regarding device operating system, software, and preferences.
- Cookies: Depending on how Teens use Uber’s services, we may use “cookies” and similar technologies to collect some of the data described above. For more information on our use of these technologies, please see Uber’s Cookie Notice.
Data we collect about Teens from third-party sources.
- App store age signals: In certain regions, Uber may receive age signals from app stores such as Google and Apple.
- Audio and video recordings: Uber may collect audio and video recordings if a driver turns on these features, either through a driver’s dashcam, through Uber’s Record My Ride feature if enabled through the driver’s device, or through livestreaming of a teen trip. Only Parents can watch a livestream of their Teen’s trip.
2. How does Uber use Teens’ data?
Uber uses Teens’ data to enable them to request and receive trips or deliveries through Uber for teens. This includes using their data to create or update their account, help their driver pick them up or get them to their destination, track their rides or deliveries, provide them with trip or delivery updates, and calculate prices.
We may also use Teens’ data for purposes such as:
- Safety, security, and fraud: For example, we may use location data to verify that a Teen’s trip ends at their requested drop-off, and alert their Parent(s) or the police if it does not; use account, location, and other information to prevent and detect fraud; use location, account, and order information to provide live support from safety experts during trips or deliveries; or use Teens’ data (and those of other Uber users they interact with) to enforce Uber’s terms and conditions and Community Guidelines, such as date of birth or age signals to ensure they are eligible for Uber for teens.
- Customer support: We collect and use Teens’ data to help resolve issues they encounter when using Uber for teens, or when they otherwise contact Uber’s customer support team.
- Research and development: This includes using data to better understand how Teens and others use Uber, and how Uber could be improved, and to develop or improve our services and features.
- Enabling communications between Teens and their driver or delivery person: This allows Teens to contact their driver or delivery person, for example, regarding pick-up location or items left in cars.
- Marketing: We use data to send messages to inform Teens about Uber products and services that we think they might enjoy.
- Legal proceedings and requirements: We use data for purposes of meeting our legal requirements, including to investigate claims or disputes relating to use of Uber’s services, in the event of legal proceedings, or if requested by law enforcement.
5. Will Uber use, sell, or share Teens’ data for personalized advertising?
No. Teens may see ads when using Uber for teens, but they are not personalized to them.
6. Does Uber provide settings for controlling how Teens’ data is used?
Uber’s Privacy Center and settings allow Teens to control how Uber uses their data. These settings include:

7. What are Teens’ rights regarding their data?
Teens can submit requests to exercise the following rights regarding their data here, through Uber’s Privacy Center, which is accessible via Account > Settings > Privacy in the Uber apps, and/or at the links below.
Depending on where Teens live, they may also have the right to submit complaints to the government agency in their country that is responsible for enforcing data protection laws, including the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
If a complaint relates to Uber’s processing of data in the United States, Teens or Parents may also raise those complaints with Uber or the United States Federal Trade Commission, or in some cases via a legal process called “arbitration”. For more information, please see Uber’s Privacy Notice.
a. Rights of data access and data portability
These rights let Teens request that Uber state what data it has about them, and provide them with a copy of their data.
Teens can access most of their account information in the Uber apps, or use our Explore Your Data feature to see a summary of frequently requested data, such as the number of trips or orders and number of days since becoming an Uber user.
Teens can also use our Download My Data tool to obtain a copy (in a portable format) of data including account, usage, communications, and device data.
b. Right of objection and right of restriction
This right lets Teens request that we stop using all or some of their data, or limit our use of their data. If an objection is raised, Uber may continue to use data if necessary to provide our services, or if required or permitted by law.
c. Right of correction.
This right lets Teens request that Uber correct any incorrect data it has about them.
d. Right to be forgotten.
This right lets Teens request that Uber delete their account and the data we have collected about them. Teens or Parent(s) can submit that request here or through the methods above.
8. Who is the data controller of Teens’ data?
A “data controller” is the company or companies responsible for deciding how data is collected, used and protected. Uber Technologies Inc. (based in the U.S.) and Uber B.V. (based in the Netherlands) are the data controllers for Teens’ data when they use Uber for teens in the European Union, United Kingdom, or Switzerland. Uber Saudi Limited acts as the local representative of the data controller, Uber Technologies Inc., when Teens use Uber for teens in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Uber Technologies Inc. is the data controller if Teens use Uber for teens anywhere else.
9. How may I contact Uber’s Data Protection Officer?
Uber’s Data Protection Officer ("DPO") helps Uber to understand and comply with data protection laws in the European Union and elsewhere when collecting and using data. Teens or Parent(s) can contact Uber’s DPO with any questions here, or by mail to Uber B.V. (Burgerweeshuispad 301, 1076 HR Amsterdam, The Netherlands), or Uber Saudi Limited, Building No. 6247, Al Olaya St., Al Muruj Dist., Riyadh 12281 - 2783, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Short Address: RHGA6247).
10. Where will Teens’ data be processed?
Uber operates, and processes user data, globally. This means that Teens’ data may be processed in countries, including the United States, whose data protection laws may be different from those where the Teens live. When we process data outside of where Teens live, we provide appropriate safeguards to protect that data as required by data protection laws, including the GDPR.
For more information on those safeguards, please see Uber’s Privacy Notice.
11. How long will Uber keep Teens’ data?
Uber keeps Teens’ data for as long as necessary to provide our services, and for the other purposes described in this notice. Once no longer necessary for these purposes, we delete the data. For more information on data retention, please refer to Uber’s Privacy Notice.
Account deletion can be requested here or through the Privacy Center. If account deletion is requested, we will delete Teens’ data, unless we have to keep the data to comply with legal obligations or for other legitimate reasons such as safety, security, and fraud.
