Tips for having awesome POOL trips
1. Explain the process to riders
If a rider asks questions or seems confused about how uberPOOL works, explain the process and clear up any misunderstandings.
2. Let riders know when they have been matched
It never hurts to give riders a heads up about upcoming pickups, so they're clear that another rider will be joining.
3. Keep conversations light
The backseat dynamic changes with more than one rider or group of riders, so it helps to keep conversations casual.
How are secondary trips added?
Secondary uberPOOL trips will be automatically added to your POOL trip so you can focus on driving. For each new rider that is added to the trip, your route and directions will be updated automatically.
How does surge work?
Surge on uberPOOL always matches surge on uberX. If you pick up multiple riders at different surge multiples then the average of the surge multiples will apply to your fare.
What if I need to take a break?
Take a break: Go into the trip menu and tap the “pause button” to stop getting additional requests. You can also go offline after your current ride is complete.
How riders are charged on uberPOOL?
Riders pay less with uberPOOL because the riders are shared, as are the costs. All uberPOOL trips (whether matched or unmatched) are paid by time and distance.
How many riders are allowed at a time?
Currently, two riders are allowed per pickup location for a total of four riders in your vehicle. We have let riders know of this policy, but if a rider shows up with more than two people, we suggest that you kindly request that they cancel that trip and request an uberX.
How long should I wait for riders?
Your time is valuable. When you arrive the pickup location, a countdown timer will appear in the driver app that counts down from 2 minutes. If your riders don't show up after 2 minutes, feel free to cancel the ride and collect the cancellation fee.
Can riders change their destination or make additional stops?
No, riders are not allowed to change their destination or make stops during an uberPOOL ride. If a rider wants to change the destination, kindly request that they cancel and request another uberPOOL or an uberX.
How do I see how much I made on an uberPOOL trip?
For uberPOOL trips that are matched with multiple riders, uberPOOL payment statements in your driver app can be hard to understand. The payments are spread out unevenly across the riders on the one long trip.
For Example: If you made $10 on trip A with Rider 1 and Rider 2, it could be displayed in the driver app as you making $1 with Rider 1 and $9 with Rider 2. This can be confusing.
For now the best way to see how much you made on an uberPOOL trip that was matched with more than one rider is to visit your Partner Dashboard.
- Go to partners.uber.com
- Log-in using the same information you use in your driver app
- Find the POOL trip under payment statements
- POOL trips that were matched with more than one rider have a drop down arrow on the left like this one
- Click the drop down to see the fare breakdown from the multiple riders
