Delivery tracking
Follow your car’s location and estimated arrival live in the app, just like a ride.
How it works
Reserve your rental car
- In the Uber app, choose Rental Cars on the homescreen, then enter your pickup and dropoff addresses and date and time of the rental
- Apply the Car Delivery filter or spot eligible vehicles directly in your feed, marked with a yellow Car Delivery Eligible tag
- Choose a vehicle, confirm the price, and select Reserve
- To be sure you’ve booked an eligible car, check that the Car Delivery toggle is on in the car details screen
Create account
Complete the booking process by uploading your driver’s license and payment method and reviewing documents in the app. If you’ve rented with car delivery from Uber before, you can skip this step.
Drive
When your rental car is headed to you, you’ll receive a notification in the app. Then you can track it just as you track Uber rides or Uber Eats deliveries. Check the car for damage, give the driver the safety PIN from the app, and you’ll be on your way. After you check over the car, you’ll give the PIN provided in your app to the driver. They’ll hand you the keys, and you’ll be on your way.
Return
When your rental is over, a driver will pick up the car from you at the time and location you indicated in your reservation. You’ll check over your vehicle again, then you’ll hand the driver the keys. It’s that easy.

Frequently asked questions
- How far in advance do I need to book?
You’ll need to book your rental car at least 2 hours in advance for car delivery service. You’ll also need to make sure to complete the identity verification process before your first trip with car delivery. The process should take less than 5 minutes, and all you’ll need is your driver’s license and credit card.
- Are there any age restrictions for car delivery?
Yes. You must be 25 or older with an full, valid US or Canadian driver’s license to book a rental car delivery.
- Where can I have my car delivered?
You can have your rental car delivered to you anywhere in the car delivery service zone, including your place of work or a hotel. Airport delivery is not currently available unless you rent through Turo on Uber. Vehicles marked with the yellow Car Delivery Eligible tag in your search feed can be delivered.
- Can I book car delivery on Uber’s website?
Not yet. Currently, car delivery is available only for in-app users.
- Why am I not getting any results when searching in a city that has car delivery?
There are several reasons why you might not be getting car delivery results. Please try these actions to help resolve the issue:
- Change your pickup or dropoff location to another place in the city. We’re constantly expanding our service area, but it might not yet include your location.
- Change the delivery times. Results may not appear because operating hours for car delivery are limited.
- Extend the length of your reservation. * Occasionally, there are minimum requirements for the number of days of the rental.
If you’re still not getting any results, it’s possible that all delivery-eligible rental cars may already be booked for the dates and times you’re searching.
- How does insurance work for car delivery?
When you set up your Avis account for car delivery, you’ll select your insurance preference. Please contact Avis to change your insurance preferences before the start of your booking. See your rental agreement with Avis for details.
- Can I have the rental car collected from a different place than where I had it dropped off?
In some cases, yes. The delivery and collection locations can be different as long as they’re within the serviceable zones for the cities that are eligible for car delivery.
- Can I track my delivery?
Yes. You’ll be able to see your rental car’s location as it makes its way to your door.
- What should I do if my ID verification is not working?
First, make sure that your driver’s license is not expired and is a full license (not a learner’s permit). The car delivery option is only available for renters over the age of 25 with a full, valid US or Canadian driver’s license.
If your license meets the requirements above make sure that you take a clear picture of your license in a well lit area, avoiding glare. Blurry or illegible licenses will be rejected. The name on the driver’s license must also match the name on the reservation.
The image you take of yourself should also be well lit and not blurry. Your image will be compared against the image on the driver’s license.
- What should I do if I am unable to create my Avis profile?
If you experience trouble creating your Avis profile there are several troubleshooting measures you can take. First is restarting the app and navigating back to your reservation to begin the process again. If after restarting you’re still facing issues, please try using another credit card. If the issues persist with a new card, then please contact Avis support at 1-800-722-5909.
- What if I get a ticket or toll charge?
You are responsible for all tickets and tolls that you incur during your rental booking. You should expect a bill and a charge to your card on file from Avis about 4 to 8 weeks after you return your vehicle. See your rental agreement with Avis for details.
- What do I do if my rental car breaks down?
If you have an issue with your vehicle and can no longer operate it, please contact Avis Emergency Roadside Assistance at 800-354-2847. See your rental agreement with Avis for details.
- What if I get into an accident?
If you have an accident during your car delivery, please first contact 911. Then file an accident report through Avis, contact Avis Emergency Roadside Assistance at 800-354-2847, and file an insurance claim depending on your insurance option selected. See your rental agreement with Avis for details.
- Can I extend the trip after it has started?
Yes, you may extend the trip after you’ve started it. Note: The time is subject to driver availability and rental location operating hours. If you wish to have a driver pick up your vehicle, we recommend that you change your rental collection time to one that’s at least 2 hours after you request the change.
