Registro

Additional requirements
- 4-door vehicle with independently opening passenger doors
- Have 7 factory-installed seats and seat belts
- Working windows and air conditioning
- No vans, box trucks, or similar vehicles
- No taxi cabs, government cars, or other marked vehicles
- No salvaged or rebuilt vehicles
- No aftermarket seating modifications, such as installed seats, seat belts, or BedRyder systems

The Passenger Protection Act and driving with Uber
North Carolina lawmakers signed the Passenger Protection Act into law in 2019. One of the requirements of this law is meant to help riders properly identify their driver. We’ve received approval from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) to use our PIN technology to comply with this portion of the law.
What this means for you
On certain trips, riders will tell you a unique 4-digit PIN that you’ll need to enter into the Driver app before you can start the trip. This helps you verify that the right rider is getting into your car, and it allows both of you to travel with more peace of mind. Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Driver app in order to accept PIN trips.
Please note that since the NC DOT approved PIN, illuminated trade dress (like an Uber beacon) is not required by local authorities if you choose to drive with Uber in North Carolina. You can continue to display your license plate signs and authorized Uber trade dress in your windshields as required.

Vehicle decal
Under local regulations, all drivers must display an Uber decal on their vehicle while online. Place the decal on your front passenger windshield facing outward. You can remove it when you decide to go offline and save it for the next time.
Pro Tip: keep the paper it comes with to place your sticker on when not in use.
Once you become a driver with Uber, we will mail you a decal. You should receive it within 7 business days. If you ever need a new decal after you become a driver, you can request a new one be mailed to you.
License plate requirements
All rideshare drivers in North and South Carolina are required to display their license plate number from the front of their vehicle.
This requirement is meant to help riders match the license plate number before entering your vehicle to help create safer experiences for everyone. To help you fulfill this requirement, all new and existing drivers will receive a physical sign at their mailing address.
The sign with the corresponding license plate number should be displayed on every vehicle that you use to drive with Uber.
