Earnings
Your earnings, explained
Learn everything you need to know about getting paid with Uber. Find out how your earnings are calculated and the factors that affect how much you make.
Maximizing your earnings
As a courier delivering with Uber, you control how you earn. Go online when you’re ready, and accept trip requests that align with your strategy. Here are 4 ways that can help you make the most of your time online:
Delivery heatmap
Use the in-app delivery heatmap to identify high-demand areas. Moving toward busier spots can help you get more delivery trip requests. Red areas are the busiest, orange areas are somewhat busy, and yellow areas are the least busy.
Uber Eats Pro
The new Uber Eats Pro program¹ is designed to reward great service with higher earnings², better rewards, and more flexibility. Reach Gold, Platinum, or Diamond status to unlock priority access to higher-paying deliveries.
Promotions
Quest: Earn more for completing a certain number of trips within specified criteria. Go the Driver app, then Discover to see available Quests and opt in to participate.
Boost+: Earn extra on every delivery trip started and completed in a certain area. Go the Driver app, then Discover to see if you’re eligible and to sign up.
Driving passengers
With a qualifying vehicle, you can also sign up to drive riders on trips. It’s another way to flexibly earn the way you like.
Delivery fares
Here is some information to help you understand how earnings are calculated:
How earnings work
Upfront fares
You’ll see how much you’ll make along with pickup and dropoff information and estimated time and distance before you accept a trip. These fares include base fare and any upfront tip that the customer may add while placing the order. Any applicable adjustments, as well as additional tips, are added after the trip. Keep reading for more information on fares and tips.
Fares
On every trip, fares are calculated based on the anticipated time and effort for that specific delivery, plus real-time factors in your area.
Tips
Customers can add a tip when placing an order on Uber Eats and add more after you complete the delivery. You keep 100% of the tips you receive.
Promotions
From time to time, you may see promotions like Quest or Boost+ in the Discover section of the Driver app that can help you earn extra on every trip.
Adjustments
Adjustments
Minimum earnings guarantee: In some markets, couriers are guaranteed a minimum earnings rate for time spent on trips. If you’re in one of those markets and you earn below that rate, we’ll automatically pay the difference.
Tip guarantee
With Uber’s tip guarantee, you’ll now see a “Guaranteed” badge on the trip request. That means the total amount you see is the minimum you’ll receive after the delivery (unless one of the few tip guarantee exceptions apply, such as a cancelled trip). If there’s a reduction in the tip amount post-delivery, we’ll cover the difference.
Tracking your earnings
See how much you’ve made and where it came from. The Earnings Hub in the Driver app offers multiple tools to help you track your earnings clearly and confidently.
Session summary
After going offline, you’ll receive a session summary of the time you were just online, including how much you earned and the number of delivery trips you were offered and completed.
Weekly summary
At the end of each week, your Earnings Hub will show a snapshot of your activity, including total earnings, completed trips, and number of hours you were online and active.
Weekly statement
View or download a detailed statement of your weekly earnings on the Earnings Hub web page.
Cashing out
Choose exactly how you’d like to get paid: weekly deposits directly into your bank account, or cashouts to your account or debit card after every trip.
Instant Pay
Cash out your available earnings for a small fee at any time, up to 6 times per day. Funds typically arrive in your account within minutes but can take up to 2-3 business days, depending on your bank.
Flex Pay
Set up a custom schedule to automatically withdraw earnings.
Weekly deposits
If you don’t request Instant Pay or set up a Flex Pay schedule, funds will automatically be deposited into your account, usually on Thursdays.
Uber Pro Card
Apply for the Uber Pro debit card to get access to your earnings after every trip without having to transfer to your bank. Plus, get cash back on select purchases like gasoline.
Tax responsibilities
When you understand your tax obligations as an Uber courier, you can file with more confidence³.
Standard mileage deduction
Track the miles you drive for Uber during the year to calculate your total deduction more simply.
Actual expense deductions
If your vehicle costs are high, you can keep a detailed record and receipts of car-related expenses.
Other expenses
Across both methods, you can also claim other business-related expenses, such as phone bills and customer amenities.
