Vehicle Requirements in the Netherlands

Which car is right for you? Make sure it meets the vehicle requirements in the Netherlands and remember that you’ll make more money if you keep your costs low.

Your vehicle must-haves

  • Car insurance certificate
  • 4/5 doors
  • Space for at least 4 people
  • Windows at passenger seats
  • In perfect condition
  • No salvaged or rebuilt vehicles
  • Blue plates and be registered as a taxi at the RDW (Dutch Vehicle Authority)
  • Vehicles built before January 1st, 2009 with a Diesel or Hybrid Diesel engine are prohibited due to the Environmental Zone in Amsterdam.

UberX

Comfort

You’ll find below the list of all vehicles eligible for Comfort.

Driver requirements

  • A cancellation rate maximum of 20%
  • A minimum rating of 4.80

Vehicle requirements

  • Vehicles may not be older than 7 full years old (till 8 years after first registration date), except for fully electric cars which can be up to 9 full years old (till 10 years after first registration date).
  • Seat at least 4 passengers in addition to the driver

UberVan

Uber Van is a service provided for groups up to 6 passengers.

Requirements

  • 6 additional places to the driver
  • Rear passenger doors must have a window
  • Your vehicle must be present in the list above

UberBlack

Charge higher fares in our premium ride option. To access Uber Black, you need to drive with an eligible vehicle, and meet additional requirements, see below.

Driver requirements:

  • A cancellation rate maximum of 20%
  • A minimum rating of 4.80
  • In Amsterdam: having a valid tram track exception document

Vehicle requirements:

  • Vehicles may not be older than 6 full years old (till 7 years after first registration date), except for fully electric cars which can be up to 8 full years old (till 9 years after first registration date).
  • Luxury vehicle in perfect condition. Find the eligible vehicles listed below.
  • Seat at least 4 passengers in addition to the driver

Green

You’ll find below the list of all vehicles eligible for Uber Green. Only fully electric vehicles are accepted on this product. Hybrids and plug-in hybrids are not accepted.
