We’re excited to announce the first step toward building the future of urban air mobility and transforming urban aviation: Uber Copter.
Initially available to Platinum and Diamond Uber Rewards members—as well as select Uber partners—Uber Copter is our first aerial ridesharing option.
Trips will run between lower Manhattan and JFK airport.
When and where Uber Copter is available
Starting on July 9, Uber Copter will be available Monday through Friday during afternoon rush hours for trips between lower Manhattan and JFK International Airport. If your journey is starting or ending within our designated zone, you’ll see Copter as an option in your Uber app. The designated zone includes all of Manhattan south of Houston Street and select areas with access to the West Side Highway.
Simply set your pickup and dropoff locations—one in Manhattan and the other at JFK airport—to see Copter’s windows of availability and pricing.
How to use Uber Copter
You can request to book your trip directly in the Uber app. A single tap of a button can get you access to a ride with Uber from your pickup location to the heliport, a helicopter flight, and a ride from the heliport to your destination.
Going to JFK? You may request a trip when you’re ready to go, or up to 5 days in advance. Coming from JFK? Book your trip on demand when your flight lands.
Who has access to Uber Copter
As we begin to roll out Uber Copter, it will only be available to select Diamond and Platinum Uber Rewards members as well as special Uber partners. Want access? Learn more about Uber Rewards, including how to sign up.
Why Uber Copter
- Safety is a top priority–all flights are operated by our partner, HeliFlite, a licensed FAA/DOT direct air carrier. HeliFlite has earned ARGUS Platinum and Wyvern Wingman safety ratings, both of which are awarded after an audit of an operator’s safety programs. Heliflite operates twin-engine, dual-piloted aircraft, and all of their pilots are instrument-rated.
- As part of our focus on safety, we are voluntarily implementing a Safety Management System (SMS) for Uber Copter and our entire organization to build a world-class safety foundation for the future of Uber Air service. This system employs a data-driven approach to accident prevention by incorporating trend analysis and robust hazard reporting. The Federal Aviation Administration currently requires SMS’s for the airline industry, but not for on-demand helicopter charter operators and HeliFlite already has an established SMS in place for its operations.
- You can save time–Uber Copter can change the way you travel, offering door-to-door airport trips designed so you can spend less time stressed and even less time in traffic.
- Enjoy a seamless experience–Taking flight can be as simple as ordering a ride. Just open your Uber app, choose when you want to leave, and select the number of seats you need. Uber will do the rest.
Terms and conditions
Uber is an indirect air carrier serving as a Part 295 air charter broker. Uber is not a direct air carrier and does not operate flights. All flights are operated by HeliFlite Shares, LLC or by other FAA/DOT-licensed direct air carriers.
