Driver Requirements
All drivers, including those with commercial licenses & insurance, must meet certain requirements to drive on the Uber platform. Commercially licensed & insured drivers must also provide proof of commercial insurance and relevant local permits and registrations, and may need to meet other requirements specific to your location. Airport regulations
Airport rules and operating procedures vary by location. Before operating at any airport, please make sure you have all required permits. Most airports maintain websites with details on their specific rules and regulations.
Driving Experience
You could earn a supplement for each mile with a passenger on eligible rides⁴. There is no cap on the number of trips or miles potentially eligible for this supplement. The supplement will be based on estimated miles for the trip and displayed on your offer card.
For example, in Los Angeles, you would earn a supplement of $30,000 if you drove 30,000 miles with a passenger (30,000 miles * $1/passenger mile supplement = $30,000). And if you determine it will cost you $10,000 for commercial licensing and insurance costs annually, your earnings from the supplement after deducting expenses is $20,000 per year.⁵
Remember that any extra earnings from the Commercial Supplement will count towards calculating top-ups under Prop 22 and may result in lower top-ups than you would have otherwise received.
