Uber accepts both official and temporary registration documents. The vehicle does not need to be registered in your name to qualify.
All drivers must maintain their own insurance policy in accordance with state and local laws. In addition, Uber maintains automobile liability insurance on behalf of all U.S. drivers. Learn about vehicle insurance here.
Your US driver's license must not be expired and you will need to indicate that you have had a US license for at least one year (three years if you are 21 or 22).
If you have been issued a new driver's license from the state of Ohio in the past year, please follow the instructions below:
- Upload a photo of your old driver's license to Checkr to complete your background check
- If you do not have a copy of your old license, click the link below and download Form 1173 to request your driving history from the Ohio BMV. Once you receive the records, please upload it to Checkr to complete your background check
Note: A driving abstract from the Ohio BMV will not satisfy the history requirement for the background check, this can only be done by an old license or the instructions below.
