Going online

To earn with Uber, you need to go online. First you can plan ahead in the Home section of the app to discover earning trends and upcoming opportunities like events and reservations. When you’re ready to start receiving trip requests, select Go.

Reading trip requests

Trip requests display key information about trips before you accept them. Here’s a quick breakdown of the 2 kinds of trip requests that might be offered to you, based on your location:

Food delivery offer showing $12.34 payment with tip included, 4 minutes and 2.2 miles total, and a green 'Accept' button.

Exclusive requests

(available everywhere)

These are sent to you only—and just for a limited amount of time. If you’re going to take the trip, you must choose Accept before the time expires.

Delivery offer showing $29.31 payment, 4.99-star rating, 5 minutes (0.4 miles) away, 32 minutes (26.3 miles) trip, and a 'Match' button.

Trip Radar requests

(available in most cities*)

These are sent to multiple drivers. Select Match if the trip interests you. If you're matched to one of the offers you selected, a trip will begin. In some cases, you can select the Trip Radar button to view a list of requests.

Taking trips

After accepting a delivery, you’ll go through 3 main stages: navigating to the pickup location; picking up the food, package, or other items; and completing the dropoff. Here’s what it can look like:

Navigation app interface showing a route to Pickup Burger Shop, estimated travel time 2 minutes, distance 2.2 miles, and a speed limit of 35 mph.

Pickup

After you accept a trip offer, the app will guide you to the pickup location. If you need to contact your customer, slide up from the bottom and select the phone icon.

Order summary for Josefina B. with order code RBC35, listing 2 drinks with a highlighted reminder not to forget this item, and 1 Super Burger, along with a button labeled 'I have the order.'

Verify your items

After arriving at the pickup location, verify that you have all the items in the order (unless it’s already sealed), especially frequently missed items, like drinks. You’ll be prompted to swipe I have the order to begin delivery. Then the app will begin navigating to your dropoff location.

Six road sign icons for reporting map issues: traffic jam, roadwork, pedestrian crossing, no entry, speed camera, and a disabled option, under the heading 'Add a map report.'

Map reports

While navigating, you may encounter map reports from other drivers informing you about potential issues along your route such as an accident or road closure. You can also report such issues yourself by tapping the traffic cone icon on your map.

Dropoff

After arriving at the dropoff location, you’ll be prompted to complete some steps depending on your delivery type, such as collecting the customer’s signature or verifying ID for alcohol orders, or taking a picture of the dropoff location to assist your customer. Once complete, you can then prepare to accept another trip request or go offline.

Vehicle integrations

If your vehicle is equipped with Android Auto or CarPlay, or you drive a Tesla, you can use Uber’s Driver app on your vehicle’s screen to accept trips and get turn-by-turn navigation instructions without having to reach for your phone.

Frequently asked questions

How can I stay informed about new features in the Driver app?

We occasionally send emails, push notifications, and in-app messages about new features. You can also look for communications about or even an invitation to Only on Uber. This annual event is where we announce updates in person with drivers and couriers, and it’s livestreamed and replayable on YouTube.

What devices are compatible with the Driver app?

Uber’s Driver app is compatible with most modern Android and Apple smartphones. Plus, if your car is equipped with Android Auto or CarPlay, or you drive a Tesla, you can use the app on your vehicle’s display to accept trips and get turn-by-turn directions.

How do I find new opportunities to earn?

You can discover new earning opportunities by navigating to the Menu section of the Driver app, then choosing either Discover (to see special promotions and events in your area) or Work Hub (to explore additional earning opportunities you may not have opted into yet).

What is my acceptance rate?

Your acceptance rate is the percentage of Exclusive trip requests you accepted out of the last 100 Exclusive trip requests you received. A higher acceptance rate may unlock higher Uber Eats Pro status and therefore more earnings and rewards.

What is my cancellation rate?

Your cancellation rate is the number of trip requests you cancel after accepting them, including Trip Radar requests, based on the last 100 accepted trip requests. These exclude cancellations that are outside of your control. A lower cancellation rate helps keep deliveries running smoothly and may unlock higher Uber Eats Pro status and therefore more earnings and rewards.

*Trip Radar requests are available in most US markets, excluding NYC, Oregon, and Washington State.
