Additional driver requirements
Uber Honolulu requirements have been updated as of March 2018.
Regulations in Honolulu County require all Uber Honolulu driver-partners to maintain the following during all Uber trips:
- Valid state of Hawaii driver’s license
- Valid vehicle insurance, registration, and state of Hawaii safety check
- Uber trade dress on your front passenger windshield
- Hands-free phone mount
- Driver and vehicle certificate (in Driver app, after logging in, tap "Account" on bottom right corner, then tap "Go Online" - this screen is your certificate, see example on right)
*Pursuant to Hawaii regulations, vehicles under commercial driver accounts with a PUC license or Taxi certification are not allowed to display any Uber trade dress or Uber-related logos.
Uber vehicle decals
Under local regulations for Honolulu, Hawaii, all partners must display an Uber decal on their vehicle while online. Place it on your front, passenger side driver windshield facing outward. You can remove it when you decide to go offline and save it for the next time. Pro Tip: keep the paper it comes with to place your sticker on when not in use.
Once you become an Uber partner, we will mail you a decal. You should receive it within 7 business days. If you ever need a new decal after you become a partner, you can request a new one be mailed to you. You can also pick one up at your local Greenlight Hub.
Need a temporary decal? Print one at home here.
Unauthorized lighting or domes
According to local regulations, while driving on the Uber platform, driver-partners are prohibited from using a dome or other unauthorized lighting devices not provided by Uber. If you are using a dome or light, please remove it from your vehicle, as instructed by city regulators, or you could be fined.
