State and Massachusetts TNC vehicle inspections
New regulation requires all driver-partners to obtain a Massachusetts TNC vehicle inspection in addition to the State vehicle inspection each year. Find an inspection center to schedule your annual inspections.
TNC vehicle inspection
Starting April 1, 2019, a new type of inspection is required for all rideshare drivers in Massachusetts. TNC vehicles are required to obtain a TNC inspection at the vehicle’s next annual inspection, or within 12 months of first date of activation on the Uber platform, whichever comes first.
The TNC vehicle inspection is given immediately after the State vehicle inspection (for Massachusetts residents only) and includes an interior safety check. There is a $15 fee for the TNC vehicle inspection in addition to the initial inspection fee.
