Signing up with Uber in Western Australia
1. Upload documents
After you've signed up for a driver account, upload a few documents for verification including your Western Australia driver’s licence, proof of identification such as passport or birth certificate, vehicle insurance, and a valid profile photo.
2. Get authorised to drive using Uber
Western Australia regulations require drivers using Uber to show proof of an F or T extension, plus the appropriate vehicle licences (see step 3). Before you can apply for an F or T extension, you will first need to pass a medical assessment and lodge a background check.
Find more information about the authorisation process on our Get a Licence page.
3. Get the required vehicle licensing
You'll need to get 3F Motor Injury Insurance on your vehicle registration, and an Passenger Transport Vehicle (PTV) On-demand Charter (OD-C) authorisation.
As part of this process, you'll need to get a vehicle inspection for safety reasons. You can book your DoT accredited vehicle inspection when you apply for the PTV authorisation.

As part of the sign up process, you need to demonstrate that you have a right to work in Australia. A VEVO check will be conducted based on the primary identity document you provide to Uber during the sign up process.
If you hold one of the following documents, a VEVO check will not need to be conducted.
- Australian Passport
- Australian Birth Certificate
- Australian Citizenship Certificate
If you do not hold one of the above documents, a VEVO check will be conducted. You will need to provide one of the following documents in order for this check to be completed:
- Immigration card
- International passport
- Refugee Passport
If you have multiple passports that are not Australian or New Zealand, you will need to provide the document you used to gain entry in to Australia.
Please do not provide a copy of your VISA or VEVO check as Uber will receive your results directly from National Crime Check.
ABN and GST registration
Australian business customers have asked for tax invoices for the trips taken on corporate accounts. Your ABN is needed to enable us to help generate a tax invoice on your behalf. To help facilitate this, Uber has updated its requirements so that driver-partners now must be GST registered and provide an Australian Business Number (ABN) and GST number in order to access the Uber app.
