What's new on the Driver app

Your feedback is helping shape what’s next. Inspired by drivers and couriers like you, we’re bringing new features and improvements to the moments that matter most — from making driving and delivering easier and safer, to recognizing your effort, making sure extra work means extra pay, and creating more ways to earn.*

New features for however you earn

Whether you're driving, waiting for your next trip, or deciding where to go, there are moments when speaking is simply easier than tapping through the app. Soon, with a new voice-enabled assistant in the Driver app, you will be able to ask questions, send messages, report navigation issues, and more.

Find and save promotions, reservations, airports, events, and more — all in Discover. See timely opportunities, filter for what fits your plans, save the ones you want, and get reminders to help you execute your plan.

Extra work should mean extra pay

From wait times to trip changes and unexpected delays, we’re making updates to better recognize those moments — and make it clearer when you’re earning more.

Notification about earning a wait-time fee added to fare after a 2-minute grace period.

View your wait time and any wait-time or no-show fees that may apply at pickup, right in the app. Coming soon, you’ll see fees that may apply at additional stops, too.

Stop 2 of 3 for Dylan, 52 seconds remaining, with options to call or view profile, and a button to go to next stop.

Soon, on trips with extra stops, wait-time fees begin after one minute instead of two. These updates are also expanding across more trip types, including UberX, Uber Comfort, Uber Black, Uber Green, and UberXL.

Ride fare increases by $2.65 for an added stop, new total $12.65, distance increases by 2 miles.

When a rider adds a stop or updates their destination, you’ll soon see the new dropoff and any fare change directly in the app.

Ride status: 3 minutes, 1.8 miles left, dropping off Dylan. Fare increases if trip exceeds estimated time by 5+ minutes.

For rides that run 5 minutes or longer than estimated, we’ll make it easier to see your Delayed Ride Guarantee extra payment in trip banners and receipts. If a ride runs more than 15 minutes longer than estimated, we’ll increase that payment.

Get more control if conversations cross the line

Coming soon, new chat protections can flag potentially abusive messages and ask riders to reconsider before sending. If an inappropriate message still comes through, you can cancel without impacting your stats — helping protect both your experience and your earnings.

Get access to recordings connected to safety reports

Soon, with Record My Ride, if you or a rider reports a qualifying safety incident, you’ll be able to view the eligible recording from that trip, excluding serious incidents, trips with minors, or other sensitive situations. Eligible recordings will also be securely attached to your report automatically, so there’s no need to download or upload them yourself, with strong safeguards in place to protect your privacy.

Get more peace of mind on teen trips

With live video, guardians can securely check in on their teen’s trips in real time through a one-way, encrypted stream designed around privacy and consent. The added visibility brings more transparency and accountability to the trip, helping encourage respectful interactions and giving everyone more confidence along the way.

Know when your tips are protected

Earlier this year, we launched a tip guarantee, so the fare you see on the trip request is the amount you can expect to make. Now, we are making it clearer to see when the protection applies. If a tip is reduced after delivery, we’ll cover the difference, and let you know when it happens.
