To make sure we’re doing our part to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we’re switching to an appointment-only model for select Greenlight locations. Drivers and delivery people are required to schedule an appointment in advance if they want to visit a Greenlight location. Walk-ins are only permitted for drivers and delivery people with an offer in the COVID-19 hub in the Driver app to pick up masks or other health and safety supplies, or who need to pick up a trade dress.
Activate your vehicle at an Uber Greenlight Hub or find an inspection center to schedule an annual vehicle inspection. Inspection requirements vary by city—get the details about San Diego below.
In San Diego, all drivers must pass a vehicle inspection at an Uber Greenlight location before taking their first trip. Note that Uber does not cover the cost of an inspection. This takes less than 30 minutes.
Please be aware that the volume of requests may impact the availability of inspections after 3:30pm.
California law requires drivers to inspect their vehicle every year or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Most inspection centers have forms available, but you may want to bring one just in case.
Uber offers inspections at all Greenlight locations. Otherwise, schedule an inspection with a facility licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Note that Uber does not cover the cost of an inspection.
