Vehicle inspections
Vehicle inspections are only required for vehicles with an out-of-state registration, no further action is required for cars with North Carolina plates. Read below for out-of-state vehicle inspection details and inspection centers near you.
Passed Inspection forms from other rideshare companies may also be accepted.
Out-of-state vehicles require inspections
If your vehicle is not registered in North Carolina and you do not have a passing vehicle inspection uploaded to your account, you will not be able to use your out-of-state vehicle.
How to get your car inspected
1. Find an inspection center
Schedule an inspection with a facility licensed by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
2. Complete an inspection
You can get an inspection at any North Carolina DMV approved inspection station, including those not on this list.
Passed Inspection forms from other rideshare companies may also be accepted.
3. Upload the completed form
Once you pass, upload the form to your account. Uber does not cover repairs or maintenance to pass an inspection.
