You deserve to be able to go wherever the opportunities are. Get there with support on the road and technology that helps protect you and those around you.
‘No Mask. No Ride’ policy
We’ve introduced a ‘No mask. No ride’ policy to Uber. This means you help protect your rider, and they help protect you.
Find out more about the new safety features and policies that we’ve put in place to help make every trip safer.
Our Door-to-Door Safety Standard
Powered by Uber’s innovative technology, encouraging shared responsibility and including guidance from health experts, these new measures are designed to help protect the health and safety of everyone who uses our platform.
Our Door-to-Door Safety Standard
New measures to help keep you safe and healthy.
In this together
To prioritise your health and allow for more space between each of you, riders are no longer allowed to sit in the front seat.
Face covering check
Before you go online, we ask you to take a photo of yourself, and our technology helps verify that you are wearing a face covering or mask.
Health and safety supplies
We are working to provide you with health and safety supplies such as face coverings, disinfectants and gloves to deliver food.
Expert-led guidance
We are working with the World Health Organization (WHO) to share safety advice and resources.
Trip safety feedback
You’ll now be able to leave feedback on health issues, such as a rider not wearing a face covering or mask. This helps us improve and holds everyone accountable.
Designing a safer experience
Features to help keep you safe
The app is built with technology to help you stay connected to your loved ones, our team and the emergency services, so you can go even further.
Help if you need it
Specially trained incident response teams are available at any time, directly from the app.
An inclusive community
Through our joint efforts with cities and safety experts, and by working together, we’re helping to create safe journeys for everyone.
Peace of mind, wherever you go
Safety is designed into the experience. So you feel comfortable driving at night. So you can tell loved ones where you’re going. And so you know you have someone to turn to if anything happens.*
Emergency assistance button
You can use the in-app emergency button to call the authorities and get help if you need it. The app displays your location and trip details, so you can quickly share them with the emergency services.
24/7 incident support
Uber customer associates trained in incident response are available around the clock.
Follow my trip
Friends and family can follow your route and will know as soon as you arrive.
2-way ratings
Your feedback matters. Low-rated trips are logged, and users may be removed to protect the Uber community.
Phone anonymisation
If you need to contact your rider through the app, your phone number may stay private.
GPS tracking
All Uber trips are tracked from start to finish, so there’s a record of your trip in case something happens.
RideCheck
Using sensors and GPS data, RideCheck can help detect if a trip has an unexpected long stop or a possible crash has occurred. If we notice such events, we’ll check on you and offer tools to get help.¹
Cover you can count on
Uber partners with leading insurance providers to help protect every trip.
Tips for smooth, safe pick-ups
Your safety is our top priority. That’s why we’re asking you and your riders to double-check all details before they get in, to ensure extra peace of mind right from the start.
Rider safety
Before the trip begins, riders are advised to check your car number plate number, make and model, as well as your driver photo and name.
Driver safety
You can ask riders to confirm your name too. You could say “Hi, who is your driver?” or “Can you confirm my name, please? It should be displayed in your app.”
Safer roads for everyone, thanks to you
You play a key role in helping to make cities safer and roads friendlier to move around in.
In the UK, we’ve created additional training resources so you can potentially make a real difference and help make communities safer.
Staying focused while driving
The app reminds you that you’re driving within the posted speed limit and to take healthy breaks, so you’re alert behind the wheel.
Safety tips
Local laws and advice from law enforcement officials offer ways you can help make a big difference in your safety and that of the people around you.
Strengthening our community
Uber’s Community Guidelines help riders and drivers enjoy a stress-free trip. Anyone who doesn’t follow the guidelines may be at risk of being removed from the platform for the safety of the entire Uber community.
