Easy setup
After you follow the steps below, you’ll start getting navigation instructions on your car’s display for each trip.
- Connect your Android phone or iPhone to your car’s display either wirelessly or through a cable.
- Android Auto or CarPlay should launch automatically after your phone is paired. If it doesn’t, follow the on-screen prompts to start.
- Open the Driver app on your phone, then find and select the Driver app on your car’s display. Start earning with ease.

For navigation
- Make sure the Tesla app is installed on your phone and you’re signed in using your Tesla credentials.
- Be sure you’re on the latest Uber Driver app (version 4.487.10000 or above). You can update the app from Google Play if needed.
- Go to Menu > Account > Vehicles in Uber’s Driver app, and select your Tesla as your primary vehicle.
- Then select Menu > Account > App Settings > Navigation in the Driver app. Choose Tesla Navigation as your primary navigation.
- Use the Driver app as normal.
For battery-aware matching
- In Uber’s Driver app, go to Menu > Account > Vehicles.
- Under Eligible Vehicles, choose the Connect button next to your Tesla.
- On the next screen, select Continue to Tesla.
- Sign in to your Tesla account to grant Smartcar and the Uber app access, then choose Next.
- Check the boxes next to Vehicle Information and Vehicle Commands, then select Allow.

For navigation and battery-aware matching
- Make sure you’re on the latest Uber Driver app (version 4.477.10000 or above). You can update the app from the App Store if needed.
- Go to Menu > Account > Vehicles, and select your Tesla as your primary vehicle.
- Under Eligible Vehicles, choose the Connect button next to your Tesla.
- On the next screen, select Continue to Tesla.
- Sign in to your Tesla account to grant Smartcar and the Uber app access, then choose Next.
- Check the boxes next to Vehicle Information and Vehicle Commands, then select Allow.
- Check the boxes next to Vehicle Information and Vehicle Commands, and select Allow. If you have trouble with this step, you can also setup your virtual key here.
- Return to the Uber Driver app to use the Tesla car display for navigation.
