Vehicle requirements

Most newer cars qualify to drive with UberX, the most popular vehicle option for riders – an everyday ride at an affordable price.

UberX vehicles:

• ANCAP 5-Star rated
• Are in excellent working condition, with no cosmetic damage
• Are registered and CTP-insured in your state
• Are 15 years old or less (measured by the year of manufacture
• Have 4 doors
• Seat 4-7 passengers plus the driver
• Have working windows and air conditioning
• Are able to pass a pink slip inspection
• Are not taxis, ex-taxis, government, ex-driving school, branded or rebuilt vehicles

Some rental vehicles may be eligible to drive with UberX.

This option is designed for riders living with disability, older adults or those who need an extra hand when getting from place to place. Assist vehicles can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers and collapsible scooters. You’ll also need to complete a free training course provided by Australian Network on Disability. Assist vehicles:

• Are ANCAP 5-Star rated, or fall under our vehicle exemption policy
• Are in excellent working condition, with no cosmetic damage
• Are deemed easy to access for passengers
• Are registered with 3F motor injury insurance in Western Australia
• Are 15 years old or less (measured by the year of manufacture)
• Have 4 doors
• Seat 4–7 passengers plus the driver
• Have working windows and air conditioning
• Are able to pass a vehicle inspection
• Have a Passenger Transport Vehicle (PTV) Authorisation (OD-C)
• Are not taxis, ex-driving school, government, branded or rebuilt vehicles
• Can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers, collapsible scooters and other assistive devices

In order for driver-partners to be eligible for Assist, they must have

• A 4.7 minimum rating; and
• Have completed over 100 trips Some rental vehicles may be eligible to drive with Assist.

SUVs and vans can seat extra passengers, so that you can earn higher fares. This is the high-capacity version of UberX.

• Be ANCAP 5-Star rated or fall under our vehicle exemption policy
• Be 15 years old or newer (measured by the year of manufacture)
• Be a 4-door SUV or large passenger van Seat 6–7 passengers plus the driver
• Not be an ex-taxi, ex-driving school, government, branded or rebuilt vehicle

Vehicle requirements:

• The vehicle must be manufactured within the last 7 years
• The vehicle must be on the list of eligible vehicle models
• Not be a taxi, ex-taxi, ex-driving school, government, branded or rebuilt vehicle
• Vehicles must also meet all other UberX vehicle requirements

Driver-partner requirements:

• Have completed at least 20 trips
• Maintain a minimum rating of 4.85
• Driver-partners must meet all UberX requirements

Vehicle requirements:

• The vehicle must be fully electric
• The vehicle must be manufactured within the last 7 years
• The vehicle must be on the list of eligible vehicle models
• Not be a taxi, ex-taxi, ex-driving school, government, branded or rebuilt vehicle
• Vehicles must also meet all other UberX vehicle requirements

Driver-partner requirements:

• Have completed at least 20 trips
• Maintain a minimum rating of 4.85
• Driver-partners must meet all UberX requirements

Vehicle requirements:

• Zero emissions vehicles are eligible to complete Uber Green trips
• Vehicles must also meet all other UberX vehicle requirements

Driver-partner requirements:

• Driver-partners must meet all UberX requirements
