UberUP: Driving Bridgeport
On Thursday, October 22, over 160 driver-partners joined us for lunch, customer service classes, and an update on Uber’s Urban Partnership (UberUP) in Bridgeport.
The NAACP Greater Bridgeport chapter and The WorkPlace joined us to share the positive impact that Uber has had in Bridgeport and the economic opportunity it can provide.
UberUP launched in Connecticut on June 23, 2015. Since then, nearly 300 people from Bridgeport started driving with Uber. But that’s not all. In urban communities across Connecticut, more than 750 people now partner with Uber, and have made over $1.6 million in the past 4 months.

Daniel Matos, a Bridgeport resident and Uber driver-partner since March 2015, shared a story on how the flexibility of Uber allowed him to be there for his family and still make a living after his son had a medical emergency. He discussed how being able to go offline when his wife would call and say they needed him was a huge benefit.
