NAVIGATING PICKUPS
Call Your Riders at Every Pickup
To help keep your uberPOOL trips on time, call your riders after one or two minutes. “I wait exactly two minutes and call after one minute,” shares Amjad. Scott is particularly proactive with calling riders after one pickup when following the first pickup. “If there are many people in the car, I don’t want them to wait.” You can cancel the trip after waiting for two minutes.
Keep Cool With Changes
If anything inconvenient happens such as a rerouted route or rider cancellation, make light of it. Joshua of Los Angeles shares, “I just try to make jokes.” If a rider requests a change in drop-off destination, Scott calmly explains the two options to his riders: “We can complete the trip as-is, or I can drop you off and you can request another.”
Samuel doesn’t mind dropping off riders at another spot close to the destination entered in the app. Like Scott, if it’s far off the original route, Samuel asks the rider to request again and enter the new address.
Take Control of the Ride
With multiple riders in your backseat, you can be the master of the trip. Driver-partner Kory F. of New York suggests, “It’s like hosting a mixer at your house. You’re the connection between all the people, so make sure everyone gets along.”
