Retrieving Missouri Driving History
In order to complete the screening process, you must confirmation that you’ve had your driver’s license for more than one year (three years if you are 21 or 22). Since your driver’s license was recently issued, this is most easily done with a Clearance Letter from the State of Missouri. The steps below detail the process to obtain this document.
STEP 1: REQUEST CLEARANCE LETTER
The clearance letter can only be requested through the Missouri Driver License Bureau and cannot be produced by a local DMV. The turnaround time is 24 to 48 hours with Fax delivery and 3 to 5 business days via traditional mail. There is no cost, except a $0.50 fee if you chose delivery by Fax.
- Open Form-4681 from the MO Department of Revenue Website
- Complete Form with your information.
- Check Clearance Letter box under the Driver License Records Section
- Check Other box under the Driver License Records Section and enter “From Issue Date” in the comments.
- Print Form (See here for completed example)
- Take the form to a local bank or government office to be notarized
- Send the completed Form-4681 to MO Department of Revenue Driver License Bureau (E-mail: dlrecords@dor.mo.gov)
Fax is the fastest option for you to receive your Clearance Letter. If you do not have a fax number, your local printing or copy store may offer fax services. For additional help on requesting a Clearance Letter, contact the MO Driver License Bureau at (573) 751-4600.
STEP 2: SUBMIT CLEARANCE LETTER TO CHECKR
Once you obtain your Clearance Letter, it must be submitted to Checkr for review. After confirming your driving history, Checkr will be able to successfully complete your background check.
- Take a clear/legible photo or scan of your Clearance Letter
