Partner Protection Insurance with AXA XL
Uber launched Partner Protection on 1 June 2018, protecting eligible drivers and couriers from the financial cost of life-changing events with insurance from AXA. Now events like injury, sickness or having a baby don’t have to come with all of the additional financial stress.
If you would like to make a claim for an on-trip accident or for an off-trip life event, please use the AXA online claims form located below.

How it works
What this means for you
Insured for major costs
If you’re one of the many eligible independent contractors who use an Uber App for flexible earnings opportunities, you are now automatically insured by AXA XL to protect you when you’re On-Trip. Cover includes medical expenses, death, permanent disability, hospitalisation and injuries (see coverage details).
Protected against lost earnings
We want to help you protect yourself from the risk of lost payments due to accidents or injuries that could occur while on-trip and off-trip. The programme also provides insurance protection to eligible partners for some life events that happen while you’re not working, but still impact your ability to make money. Cover includes inconvenience compensation for injuries and severe sickness, and one-off payments for maternity/paternity and jury service (see coverage details).
It doesn’t cost you a thing
As part of our global commitment to safety we have partnered with AXA XL, the world's leading insurance brand, to provide you with this protection. There’s no need to sign up — all eligible independent partners are automatically protected by the insurance, at no cost to you.

- Why is Uber doing this?
Independent work provides flexible earning opportunities. We want to help you protect yourself from the risk of major costs or lost income — because life-changing events like injury, sickness or having a baby shouldn’t have to come with additional financial stress. We are proud to be industry leaders with AXA in establishing stable flexibility for the gig economy.

Only independent/self-employed Uber partners are eligible for Partner Protection. For eligible active partners, the program also provides additional income protections for specific life events that can occur at any time. For full policy details and exclusions please visit the links in the Further Documentation section.
- What is not covered?
Like most insurance policies, Partner Protection has some general and cover-specific exclusions. Please read the full policy details and exclusions on the links in the Further Documentation section. No payment will be allocated if you have undertaken trips during the period mentioned in the doctor’s certificate.
- How do I file a claim?
You can file a claim using a simple AXA online claims form located in the help section of the partner Uber app. After you submit your claim, you’ll receive an AXA confirmation email with your claim number, claim adjuster’s contact information and a list of additional documents you may need in order for AXA to process your claim.
