How we're helping keep you safe
The ground-transport layer for your corporate travel risk management programme
Uber for Business brings safety technology to every business trip, so ground transport supports your duty of care instead of being the blind spot in it. Employees get in-app safety tools and features and live trip monitoring; admins get integrations with the travel-risk providers they already run. It works alongside your existing corporate travel risk management programme, not in place of it.

Raising the bar on safety
Adaptable technology
Safety features are built into the Uber app your employees already use. GPS monitors each trip against its expected route, and the in-app safety features help one tap away. For duty-of-care teams, that means ground transport carries the same oversight as the rest of a corporate travel risk management programme.
Shared accountability
Drivers, riders, couriers and delivery recipients each have a part in keeping trips safe. Two-way ratings, Community Guidelines and reporting tools mean standards are set on both sides of every trip, not just enforced from the top.
Safety integrations
In selected markets, Uber for Business connects to Concur Locate and International SOS, so your risk and security teams can locate travelling employees and reach them quickly during a disruption. Traveller tracking and incident response stay inside the tools your programme already relies on.
Helping to keep you safe at every turn
Concur Locate and International SOS are integrated
Where available, Uber trip data feeds the employee risk-management and safety-communication tools your organisation runs. Security teams can check in with travelling staff and account for people quickly if something changes on the ground. This is the practical core of ground-transport duty of care.
Every trip is insured
Cover for accidents that happen during a trip apply for all independent partners from the moment of confirming a trip or food delivery request in the Uber app until completion of that request, and for 15 minutes after it has been completed.
Driver and courier screening
Drivers and couriers are screened before they can access the platform, in line with local requirements. Screening in the UK and Ireland follows the applicable regulatory checks.*
Community Guidelines
Everyone using an Uber account agrees to treat others with respect, help keep each trip safe, and follow the law. The same standard applies to riders, drivers and couriers.
Providing peace of mind for all
We’re continually working to improve the safety of all the communities we serve: riders, drivers, couriers and businesses.
Ready-to-ride safety checklist
Before every trip, riders must confirm that they’ve taken precautions such as wearing a face covering and washing or sanitising their hands. We also ask that they sit in the back seat.
In-app Safety Toolkit
A dedicated place in the app where riders and drivers can access key safety information easily, reach emergency assistance quickly and share their location.
RideCheck
Using sensors and GPS, RideCheck helps detect if a trip goes unusually off course, if there’s an unexpected long stop, or if a possible crash has occurred, then checks in to help provide support.
Ready-to-drive safety checklist
Before a driver or courier can go online, they will be asked to confirm, using a ‘Go online checklist’, that they’ve taken certain safety measures and are wearing a mask or face covering.
Face covering check technology
Technology will verify that the driver is wearing a face covering or mask by asking them to take an interactive selfie.
Driver screening in the UK and Ireland
All drivers are screened before they begin using Uber – and annually thereafter.* This includes pre-screening and documentation, driving history review, criminal history review, and new offence notifications (where available).
Community Guidelines
Everyone who signs up for an Uber account across all of our apps is expected to treat each other with respect, help keep each other safe and follow the law.
Restaurant food safety
Restaurants are expected to meet all relevant licensing requirements, follow regulations and provide a safe area for order pick-ups.
Contact-free delivery
Uber Eats users can choose ‘Leave at door’ deliveries, and couriers are advised to follow food safety best practices that were developed with guidance from the NHS.

Frequently asked questions
How does Uber for Business support corporate travel risk management?
Uber for Business covers the ground-transport part of a corporate travel risk management programme. Trips are monitored by GPS against its route, riders have an in-app Safety Toolkit and RideCheck, drivers are screened before they join, and trips are insured from confirmation to completion where local insurance applies, subject to the applicable policy terms. Where available, trip data connects to Concur Locate and International SOS so your risk teams keep visibility of travelling staff.
What does duty of care mean for ground transport?
Duty of care is generally an employer's responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of employees while they travel for work. For ground transport, that means knowing employees can reach help quickly, that trips are monitored and insured, and that security teams can locate and contact staff during a disruption. Uber for Business helps support these through the app employees already use, supporting rather than replacing your own duty-of-care obligations.
How does Uber for Business help with incident response?
Riders can reach emergency help from the in-app Safety Toolkit, and RideCheck can detect unexpected stops or route changes and checks in automatically. In markets where Concur Locate and International SOS are integrated, your security team can account for travelling employees and communicate with them through the risk tools your programme already uses.
Can Uber for Business fit alongside our existing travel risk programme?
Yes. Uber for Business is the ground-transport layer, not a replacement for a travel management company or a travel-risk platform. It integrates with Concur Locate and International SOS, so ground transport reports into the same duty-of-care programme rather than sitting outside it.
*Except in New York City, where driving history reviews are conducted by the Taxi and Limousine Commission for drivers accessing the Uber platform.
