Register a commercial passenger vehicle
Rideshare drivers in VIC are required to register their vehicle as a commercial passenger vehicle through Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV), formally Taxi Services Commission (TSC). You’ll need to register directly through the CPVV website and provide Uber with a copy of the registration receipt. Find out how below.
How to register your vehicle as a commercial passenger vehicle
1. Complete the online registration
If you are the owner of the vehicle you intend to use while driving using the Uber App fill out the online application link below to get started. You will be required to pay to CPVV a $53.80 application fee to submit your registration and you will need to pay via credit card.
If you are not the owner of the vehicle you intend to use while driving using the Uber App you will need to request the owner to register their vehicle. Once the vehicle is registered, they can share a copy of the registration receipt with you to upload to your partner profile.

To complete your registration of your vehicle with CPVV you are required to provide your vehicle’s details:
- Vehicle registration number
- Vehicle identification number (VIN)
You must also provide one of the following forms of ID:
- Your Victorian driver accreditation number OR; a copy of:
- Australian driver’s licence
- Passport (current, expired within last two years but not cancelled)
2. Upload your commercial passenger vehicle registration receipt to your Uber profile
Once your have registered your vehicle, you will receive an email confirming your registration, upload a copy of the registration receipt attached to the email to your Uber profile.

How long does it take to receive confirmation of my commercial passenger vehicle registration with CPVV?
Once you have submitted your application, you should receive confirmation within a couple of minutes. In some cases, this can take up to 24 hours.
I don’t have a driver accreditation number yet, can I still register my vehicle?
Yes. If you or the owner of the vehicle do not hold a valid driver accreditation number, CPVV will require a copy of one of the following documents from the applicant: Australian driver’s license Passport (current, expired within last two years but not cancelled) You will be asked to provide this a the start of your application in place of the driver accreditation number.
Can I apply without a credit card?
No. If you do not hold a credit card you will not be able to apply for the vehicle registration
I am not the owner of the vehicle, can I still apply?
No. CPVV requires the owner of the vehicle to apply for vehicle registration. They can do so easily online with CPVV at t.uber.com/CPVR. Once the vehicle is registered, the owner can share a copy of the registration receipt with you to upload to your partner profile.
How do I get in contact with CPVV about the status of my commercial passenger vehicle registration?
