What to expect with an Uber for Business profile
An Uber for Business profile might just seem like a nice-to-have at first glance, but the truth is, getting business profiles live is fast, free, and rewarding for the many employees who are hungry for travel perks.
In a recent webinar, Uber for Business experts Cindy Le and Aaron Kaplan walked through the simple process of setting up business profiles, plus how to take advantage of perks from Delta SkyMiles, Marriott Bonvoy®, and Uber One. Here's what they covered.
Before business profiles: missed opportunities
Uber is probably already part of how your team operates. But if those business-related rides, meal orders, or deliveries are happening without a business profile, your organization could be covering the cost without taking advantage of valuable perks.
On the administrator side, no business profile means you can't set active pricing limits or other guardrails on rides or meal orders before they happen. If you do have guidelines in place, they're only enforceable when reviewing expense reports. And without visibility into business spend or usage patterns, your team doesn't have clean data to make informed decisions.
Most importantly for your employees, they're missing out on exciting features and perks with every qualifying ride or meal.
A simpler setup than you'd expect
Creating an Uber for Business profile is simple and free. Administrators simply sign up or log in online at business.uber.com, then connect an existing account or create a new one. You can also receive tailored assistance for scale.
After your Uber for Business account is live, you can start creating programs—including setting ride and meal limits based on day, time, location, and budget. You can then get your team on board by inviting eligible employees to join the company profile.
From there, the process is even simpler for employees. They receive an email invitation, add the business profile to their existing Uber account, and can start taking advantage of all the benefits of a business profile, including ride and meal programs, with the ability to earn rewards through partners each step of the way.
Rewards start showing up
The perks begin landing in employees' personal accounts with their first eligible ride or meal. With Uber for Business, those rewards can arrive in many forms.
Delta Air Lines: Earn 6x miles per eligible dollar on Uber Reserve trips, 4x on UberXL, Comfort, Black, and Black SUV rides, and 2x on UberX rides to and from airports¹
Marriott Bonvoy®: Earn 3x points on Premium rides, 2x points on UberX rides booked with Reserve, and 2x points on $40+ Uber Eats orders delivered to select properties including Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, and Element Hotels²
American Express® Corporate Card: Earn 5% Uber Cash on eligible business rides and Uber Eats orders when charged to a Corporate Gold Card³
Aeroplan: In Canada, connect Aeroplan and Uber accounts to earn Aeroplan points on eligible rides and Uber Eats orders⁴
Uber One: Eligible employees get a full year of Uber One free, which includes 5% Uber One credit on eligible rides, $0 delivery fee on eligible Uber Eats orders, and up to 10% off eligible deliveries and pickup orders⁵
Adoption builds as word travels
As employees notice the perks of shifting to an Uber for Business profile, they'll start spreading the word. That's usually all the push the rest of the team needs.
One question that came up during the webinar was "What's the best way to get our team to actually adopt this?" Uber for Business experts Cindy and Aaron gave a simple response: Lead with the employee perks. From double miles to hotel points, news about personal benefits tends to travel faster and more effectively than any compliance push. For teams that want a head start, Uber for Business can also provide communications templates that can be edited and shared with employees directly.
Employees will also appreciate the new ease of managing their business travel. Cindy and Aaron both shared stories about the hassle of screenshotting and uploading receipts for every business trip in their pre-Uber for Business lives. A business profile eliminates that manual work, automatically managing ride and meal details from an app employees probably already use.
Your finance team stops chasing receipts
Next, your finance team will begin spending significantly less time tracking down missing or mismatched receipts as well as manually reconciling expenses. With an Uber for Business profile, ride and meal receipts flow automatically into expense providers like SAP Concur, Navan, Brex, Ramp, Expensify, and more.
To put that in concrete terms, Aaron walked through a hypothetical 2 to 3-day business trip with $150 to $300 in ride spend. Without a business profile, the trip would amount to about 45 minutes of admin time—more if there is an expense report error. With a business profile, the same trip would only take about 5 minutes of admin time. Multiply this one story by many business travelers in an organization, and that's real value added for the finance team.
Your finance team can also expect to see compliance improve, since policy enforcement happens before the ride happens, not after. And for travel managers who have a clearer view of spend, receipts automatically captured, and rewards flowing to employees, your travel program will feel like it's running itself.
