uberPOOL—A New Way to Ride in Boston

August 13, 2015 / Boston

Today, we’re thrilled to introduce a new, innovative carpool option: uberPOOL. We’ll connect you with someone traveling the same way so you can share your ride and split the cost—making your fare up to 70% cheaper than a Boston TAXI. There’s never been a cheaper way to Uber.

Our vision for uberPOOL is simple: Make rides more affordable than ever and reduce the number of cars on the road. When 2 people going the same way combine trips and divide costs, that’s one less car on the road and a cheaper fare for both riders.

What are you waiting for? Try uberPOOL today.

  1. Select the uberPOOL option at the bottom of your app
  2. Set your pickup and drop-off locations
  3. You’ll be quoted a guaranteed fare before you request, so you know exactly what you’re going to pay
  4. Request!
  5. You might get matched with another person going the same way, adding a few minutes to your trip. Regardless of whether you’re matched or not, your fare will always be less than uberX

How is my fare calculated?

The quoted fare you’re shown before you request is guaranteed whether you’re matched with another rider or not—no surprises! Your fare is dynamically calculated based on uberX rates and the likelihood of getting matched given the time of day and location of your request.

Where is uberPOOL available?

uberPOOL is available in Allston, Boston, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Dorchester, Everett, Jamaica Plain, Malden, Mattapan, Medford, Quincy, Revere, Roslindale, Roxbury, Somerville, and Winthrop, and more (pickups not available at Logan Airport).
