We’re excited to announce the launch of UberUP, Uber’s Urban Partnership in New Orleans today. UberUP is an initiative to connect communities with entrepreneurial opportunities furnished by the Uber platform.

Over the next year, we will on-board 50,000 partner-drivers in urban communities across the Eastern US. In New Orleans, we seek to add 1,000 driver partners by the end of 2015. UberUP New Orleans will kick off with a public launch event on June 30, 2015.

To drive this commitment forward across the East, we’re partnering with the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, a nonprofit research and strategy organization and the leading authority on U.S. inner city economies and businesses. Right here in New Orleans, we are also partnering up with AARP New Orleans, SUNO, UNO, Xavier University, Dillard University, Goodwill of Southeast Louisiana, and the Urban League of New Orleans.

Together, we will reach thousands of urban residents through local events, skill-building courses and information sessions in an effort to ensure that the opportunity of entrepreneurship is available to all.

We’re honored to have the support of Councilmember Jared Brossett, our partnering organizations, and local community leaders to celebrate the launch of UberUP. We look forward to working closely with state and community leaders in New Orleans to connect communities with entrepreneurial opportunities.
