Meet Tracy: Chapel Hill student, Triangle native, and Uber partner. While being a full-time student takes up most of her time, Tracy leverages the flexibility of the Uber platform to drive when and how much she wants – all while making extra income to help support her busy lifestyle.
School: UNC Chapel Hill
Major: Business, with a double minor in Mandarin Chinese and Religious Studies
Favorite time to drive: Late night! Sometimes I end up picking up someone I know and we get to catch up!
Most memorable driving experience: I drove a recruiter in town from New York to her hotel. We had a really great conversation about business and global marketing, and I even got her business card. I have a stack of business cards in my glove compartment from all the people I’ve met as an Uber partner.
Why other students should drive: You set your own schedule so driving doesn’t have to interfere with your normal activities. I drive on the nights it’s too cold to go out. I get to ride around, listen to my music, and pick up people or friends who are always super interesting. I always meet someone new – I’ve met recruiters, recognized students from class, and even found dates to sorority functions. It’s a great gig if you’re a people person!

Favorite activities: I love UNC cycle classes. I actually picked up one of the Rec Center employees one night while driving and she immediately recognized me. It was really cool!

Favorite sports teams: Definitely Carolina football and basketball.
