Moving West and Northwest Philly
This past Monday we thanked the 1,100 Uber driver-partners who call West and Northwest Philly home with a partner appreciation luncheon at The Pegasus Room. Driver-partners, their friends, and families gathered to share stories and celebrate the vital role that they play in their neighborhoods. By serving their communities and safely transporting Philadelphians anytime, anywhere — whether it be to work, the grocery store, or back from a night out with friends — these driver-partners are able to support themselves and their families.
In June alone, West and Northwest Philly driver-partners completed over 60,000 trips and brought in over $1 million in net fares. Every ride taken continues to unlock economic opportunity and enable these entrepreneurs to make a living.
Uber Philly driver-partner Samuel shared his personal story with the group, detailing how driving with Uber has helped him.
“I signed up to drive with Uber in August of 2014 and felt a sense of freedom that I had never experienced before. I was able to support myself and my son, pay for my tuition, and do it all on my own schedule. As a single parent, it can be really tough, because I have to do everything, and now I have the freedom and flexibility to take my son to doctors appointments, sports games, and spend time with him one on one. What other job offers the opportunity to work as much as you want and earn as much as you want, all on your own schedule? Because of Uber I can support my son and his future, pursue my own dreams, and make an income while doing it.”
