Meet Your Messenger: Cesar

Earlier this month, we launched UberRUSH — a reliable ride for your deliveries. We want to introduce you to the men and women who will be coming into your homes and offices to transport your precious cargo.

We first met Cesar through fellow RUSH messenger, Carl, who connected us when we were in need of an amazing photographer. With less than a day’s preparation, Cesar masterfully orchestrated our entire UberRUSH photoshoot, and quickly injected color and life into the project. (The photo above was taken when Cesar finally let us turn the camera on him.) New York City, meet Cesar:

Where are you from originally? Guayaquil, Ecaudor

How did you end up in New York? My mother brought me to New York from Ecuador when I was 2 years old.

How’d you get into bike messengering? I got into bike messengering because, at the time, I was unemployed and my photography/video work wasn’t steady yet. I’d much rather work on my bike than to be inside all day at a boring “9 to 5”.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever delivered? The craziest thing I’ve ever delivered was a large envelope full of stacks of cash.

Where are we most likely find you on your down time? On my downtime I’m usually kicking back at a park on a grassy area just reading a book.

What’s your favorite area of the city? My favorite area in the city is the Lower East Side — one of the few places left in New York City that is still gritty and has some attitude to it.

What’s the most interesting place you’ve ever delivered to? The most interesting place I’ve ever delivered to was to an apartment that was maybe the size of a building, with a private elevator and private garage. And the person was really cool, too.

Does your bike have a name? I call my work bike my steed.

Want to join Cesar on the road? We’re looking to partner with the best messengers in NYC. If that’s you, reach out to us at PartnersNY@uber.com.
