Driving Small Business in Austin
This week we celebrate family and local businesses in Austin with Small Business Saturday®. More than half of driver-partners choose to drive less than ten hours per week on the Uber platform, making it a perfect option for entrepreneurs. Small business owners especially enjoy the flexibility to drive when they can, to supplement their entrepreneurial pursuits. Today we share the story of three small business owners in Austin who drive on the Uber platform to help achieve their goals.
Meet Keesha
Keesha is the creator and visionary of Kitch No-Grain-Ola, an Austin-bred gluten-free food provider. “Both my husband and I drive with Uber! Driving occasionally for Uber allows me to assist my husband in supporting our family as my business continues to grow. The ability to make extra money on my own schedule means a lot for me as a wife, mom of 3 and a small but growing business owner.”

Meet Liz
Liz is the founder and creative director of Love Your Yoga & Chakra Kids Yoga in Austin, Texas. “I love driving for Uber, it gives me so many great opportunities to talk to people about my businesses, get the word out around town and to earn extra income to support me to carry out my visions. I love to hear people’s stories and they are always curious too about what I love. I love teaching people about yoga and helping inspire them in their spiritual practices. For example, just the other day I drove the daughter of a gymnastics studio business owner who passed on my information to her mother about my kids yoga teacher trainings and kids yoga opportunities with Chakra Kids Yoga. What a great connection that happened because of Uber!”
Meet Brandon
[WAITING ON PICTURE FROM BRANDON]
Brandon is the owner and operator of Blue Sky Boat Club on Lake Austin and Lake Travis. “Uber allows me and my staff to earn extra money over the off-season. As the boat club is only operational nine months out of the year, and even the cooler months like October and March are still pretty slow, we can count on Uber to help with finances during those slow times. In addition, we can drive during rainy days even during the spring and summer to keep a steady flow of income. It is also a great way to meet people (especially out of town visitors) and let them know about the boat club. Lastly, Uber has allowed me as the business owner to purchase newer and nicer vehicles that can be used to drive during those off-times and tow boats back and forth for the club when it is operational, so a win-win for all involved.”
