Behind the Wheel with Mustafa, Seattle uberX partner

While many of our partners drive on the Uber platform full-time, others choose to drive part-time in order to supplement their income. Today, we’re taking you Behind the Wheel with Mustafa, one of our awesome Seattle uberX partners, to learn more about why he chooses to drive part-time in Seattle.

In 2012, Mustafa immigrated to the United States from Iraq in search of new opportunities. Speaking very little english, it was difficult starting out but one of the first opportunities he found here in Seattle was as a dishwasher at a restaurant in West Seattle where he worked long hours, seven days a week. He used the opportunity to improve his english and moved through a few other jobs, eventually finding his way to driving for the Microsoft shuttle where he currently enjoys helping people get to and from the Microsoft campus on a daily basis.

Like many other partner drivers, Mustafa uses the Uber platform as a safe and flexible earning opportunity to help supplement his income. He has dreams of going back to school to earn a degree and buying a home in the Seattle area. With the flexibility provided on the Uber platform, he can choose which evenings and weekends he wants to drive to earn extra money to help him pursue these dreams. Along with the flexibility, he loves the opportunity to continue improving his english by talking with the people who ride with him around the city and learning more about the Seattle area.

When Mustafa isn’t behind the wheel, he enjoys relaxing with his parents and brothers who have since joined him in the United States or getting out on the pitch to play soccer with his friends. He is also an avid fan of european league soccer and loves watching matches at home with his family and friends. He loves meeting new people, so be sure to introduce yourself the next time you catch a ride with Mustafa!

• Mustafa also dreams of traveling, and Italy is the destination at the top of his list.
