Behind the Wheel in Wisconsin

Today we are excited to kick off a blog series celebrating the driver partners that move Wisconsin safely. Uber’s driver partners work hard to facilitate thousands of safe rides throughout Wisconsin and we’re eager to share their stories. In the first of many posts, let’s take a moment to go behind the wheel.

Whether it be spending summer days with his 3-year old son or logging hours towards his pilot certification, transportation has always been of huge interest to Caleb. Over time, this interest evolved into a professional passion with careers ranging from an automotive technician, city bus driver, fuel truck driver and even as a deckhand on a commercial fishing vessel.

The opportunity to partner with Uber as a driver aligned well with Caleb’s interests – so he gave it a shot.

Since partnering with Uber, Caleb has found that the flexibility of the driver partnership fits in seamlessly with his everyday commitments. He especially enjoys the ability to set his own schedule and be his own boss.

“…it was Uber that finally empowered me to embrace entrepreneurship and create my own transportation business. Today I am a sole proprietor offering the highest quality service to clients… Without Uber I wouldn’t be able to provide the service that my customers demand.”

While the economic opportunity is important to Caleb, Uber means more to him than just that. It is an outlet for him to connect with others within his community. Recalling one of his most memorable rides with a recent college grad, unsure of his future career path, Caleb shared his own personal experiences and offered encouragement and reassurance which helped the rider push aside his worries and regrets. Caleb’s faith in the platform as a benefit to the community was solidified.

“The human factor is my favorite part of partnering with Uber. And, though the money is important, if I weren’t having a good time I wouldn’t keep logging on to drive.”
