Austin, Meet Your Sixth Star Driver, Neel!
Whether it’s a safe trip to the game on Saturday morning or a reliable ride from downtown on Friday night, Uber partners work hard to ensure Austinites have a safe, reliable ride anytime and anywhere. Sometimes, in the process of moving you from point A to point B, they do something uber-special that takes more than five stars to properly thank them. When a driver goes out of his way to help a stranded driver on the side of the road fix a flat tire or rushes back to the airport to return a lost wallet, riders have the opportunity to submit their driver for the Sixth Star Award.
This month, Austin’s own Neel Brown has earned the Sixth Star Award for his compassion and thoughtfulness.
Mother of 19-year-old special needs child recounts son’s ride:
Hunter used Uber to go from the North Austin area to a doctors appointment. The Uber driver and he visited all the way out to the appointment. My phone rang while I was in a meeting, and I had a message from the Uber driver telling me that he had taken my son, whose name he didn’t know, to an appointment. He knew that my son planned to Uber back but the driver noticed that there were no Uber cars in vicinity to the location and it might be difficult for him to get a ride back. By the time I was able to return the call, the driver, Neel, had taken it upon himself to find my son. Not knowing my son’s name or the doctor, he went in to the building, found my son and told him he would wait for him to finish the appointment and take him back his apartment in time for class.
Prizes
Neel will receive an exclusive Sixth Star swag bag and $1,000 American Express gift card for his exceptional service.
Neel, thank you for your thoughtfulness, compassion, and sixth star service to Austin!
