A Balancing Act: Meet Armando

Armando moved to College Station in 2011 to attend Texas A&M University. The history major was working at a catering company with hopes of becoming a special education teacher after graduation.

Despite having a job, Armando was still struggling to make ends meet because his class schedule would often prevent him from being able to work. A few of his friends had told him about Uber but he wasn’t sure if adding Uber to his already busy schedule would work for him.

“I love that I can pick my own hours. If I am studying and need a study break here or there, I can turn on the Uber app and drive.”

Now, Armando earns money by helping to provide safe and reliable rides across Brazos Valley.

Uber has not only provided a flexible way for Armando to earn money immediately, it has opened doors to future opportunities. He especially enjoys the variety of people he meets each day, which allows him to also use the Uber platform as a way to network and add to his already extensive business card collection. During one of his most memorable trips, he was connected with a Texas A&M professor who has since become an informal mentor to Armando while in grad school.

Since May, Armando has been able to study at Texas A&M, continue a part-time job, and partner with Uber. The kind of flexibility that Uber provides enables him to manage this packed schedule.
