Together on the road to zero emissions

Uber helped change the way the world moves. And we’re committed to changing the way the world moves forward. That’s why we’re announcing our commitment to becoming a zero-emission platform in US and Canadian cities as well as in major global cities where we can ensure a fair transition for drivers, by 2030—a goal that can only be achieved by working together.

Why go electric?

There are lots of reasons to make the switch to an electric vehicle, also known as an EV.

Fuel savings

EVs enjoy reduced costs with the price of electricity compared to petrol or diesel as fuel

Better for your city

Driving EVs helps reduce emissions, lower air pollution levels making your city a healthier place for everyone

EV technology

EV technology makes for a great ride. Drivers who’ve made the switch say their new EVs are comfortable and easy to maintain, and that their riders also love the quieter, smoother trips.

Making charging work for you

EV drivers charge using either public or home chargers, or a combination of the two.

Public chargers can come in a variety of types and speeds. As you prepare to make the switch to an EV, it’s worth researching nearby charging stations. You can view them right in the Driver app by selecting the search magnifying glass at the top right of the homescreen, then choosing Chargers.

If you have access to overnight off-street parking, like a private driveway or garage, installing a home charger can make charging an EV convenient and more affordable. Home charger specifications also vary, so exploring which option could be the best fit for your vehicle is worthwhile.

Helping you go electric

Drivers like you are leading the way toward a greener future, and Uber is committed to supporting you. If you’re thinking about making the switch, here are some ways we can help you:

Zero Emissions incentive

Until April 11, 2024, drivers of fully electric vehicles (EVs) can earn an extra $1 per eligible ride provided in an EV.¹

Starting on April 11, 2024, drivers of fully electric vehicles can earn an extra $210 after completing 200 eligible rides in an EV every 30 days through the end of 2024. This incentive will replace the $1-per-trip incentive.²

Uber Green

Uber Green is a low-emission ride option. If you drive an EV on the Uber platform, you’re automatically opted in to Uber Green.³

Comfort Electric

Uber Comfort Electric is a new rideshare option for riders to request top-rated drivers in a premium zero-emission vehicle.³

Wallbox has partnered with Uber to offer drivers an all-in-one home smart EV-charging solution and energy management system. The Pulsar Plus offers a compact footprint designed for high-power EV charging. This special offer includes $100 off a charger and $100 off installation, that’s $200 in savings. Financing options are also available.⁶
