Getting Huskers home: How the University of Nebraska-Lincoln teams up with Uber to power late-night rides
When the sun sets on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s sprawling campus, students shouldn’t have to worry about getting home stress-free.
Thanks to a groundbreaking partnership between The Association of Students of the University of Nebraska (ASUN) and Uber, the Huskers can rest easy knowing that they have a ride home.
In 2025, ASUN began powering late-night rides for its students with Uber, with the primary goal of promoting safety for its campus community. This innovative program, funded through a unique source, is already making a significant impact on a community of over 23,000 students.

始まり
The challenge was clear: undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) needed reliable late-night transportation during the academic year.
Whether attending late-night study sessions, heading back from evenings out with friends, or rushing to make early-morning flights, Huskers needed to be able to travel safely at night.
Recognizing the gap in campus transportation offerings, ASUN Student Government stepped up to find a flexible, student-centered solution.
プログラムについて
In 2026, ASUN launched the Husker Late Night Ride program in partnership with Uber, designed to get Huskers home stress-free and promote campus safety.
The program offers students 5 $10 Uber vouchers per semester, for use on UberX rides. These vouchers can be used between 9pm and 3am, 7 days per week.
補助金の対象となるには、乗車場所と到着場所がネブラスカ大学リンカーン校のシティキャンパスとイーストキャンパスから半径3マイル以内であるか、リンカーン空港への往復である必要があります。
Tap, tap, ride
Backed by Husker spirit
Proof that Husker spirit is powerful? The Husker Late Night Ride program is backed by it.
The program is funded by capital from Nebraska Athletics, specifically revenue generated from alcohol sales at Husker football and volleyball games. Thanks to creative budgeting by ASUN student government, game-day revelry has been channeled into a year-round resource for UNL students that supports campus safety.
Making waves
Since its launch, the Husker Late Night Ride program has become a campus favorite, woven into the fabric of UNL student life.
Over 6,000 students have claimed a Husker Late Night Ride voucher, and more than 15,200 rides with Uber have been delivered. Peak usage occurs Thursday through Saturday nights, with Friday being the most popular at 37.8% of all rides.
What’s more, Uber’s pay-per-performance model makes it simple for ASUN to deliver all this impact while keeping cost-efficiency at front of mind.
Through the Uber for Business Dashboard, ASUN maintains full oversight over the program as it continues to grow. Administrators are able to easily track impact and spending, adjust program parameters, and generate reports seamlessly.
