Drive in Winnipeg

1. Sign up online

Tell us a little about yourself and your car by creating a driver profile.

2. Minimum vehicle requirements

Your vehicle must meet the requirements to drive with Uber in Winnipeg. Check if your vehicle is qualified.

3. Share your documents

Take photos of the following documents and upload them to your account:

  • Driver's licence: 21+ years old, Manitoba class 1 to 5, 5F driver's licence or equivalent
  • Proof of work eligibility: Birth certificate, Citizenship card, Passport residency card, or Work permit
  • Vehicle registration: Your vehicle model year must be 10 years or newer and be registered in Manitoba
  • Driver abstract: To request a Driver Abstract, fill out the Driver Abstract Request Form. The form can be submitted by mail, fax, or in-person at any MPI Service Centre.

4. Background screening

Your background screening can be completed online on Winnipeg Police Service's website. Complete the electronic Police Information Check (ePIC) below.

5. Adult and child abuse registry application

Complete the Adult and Child Abuse Registry Application on the Province of Manitoba's website below.

You have 90 days to submit your application after becoming an active driver.

Note: Applications can take 4-8 weeks to process. To ensure that your application is processed in time, we recommend submitting your application as early as possible.

6. Vehicle inspection

To be eligible to drive with Uber, your vehicle must pass a vehicle inspection by an approved mechanic. Upon passing, you’ll receive a Certificate of Inspection (COI), which is required to drive with Uber.

Once you receive your COI, upload the certificate to your Uber account.
