Activate your vehicle

To drive with Uber in Winnipeg, your vehicle must pass an inspection at a Vehicle Inspection Safety Station and receive a "Certificate of Inspection" (COI).

Important: Check to make sure your mechanic is licensed by Manitoba Public Insurance and can issue a Certificate of Inspection. Please note that Uber does not cover the cost of the inspection, or any repairs or maintenance needed to pass an inspection.

Complete the inspection at a Canadian Tire or at an approved mechanic near you.

Annual vehicle inspections

1. Find an inspection centre

Find your nearest inspection centre and make an appointment for a vehicle inspection.

Be sure to visit an MPI-approved mechanic at a Vehicle Inspection Safety Station.

2. Complete a vehicle inspection

Bring your vehicle in for the inspection. If your vehicle passes the inspection, the mechanic will give you a Certificate of Inspection (COI).

Note that Uber does not cover the cost of the inspection, or any repairs or maintenance needed to pass an inspection.

3. Upload your Certificate of Inspection

After you pass your vehicle inspection, upload a clear photo of the 'Certificate of Inspection' to your Uber account. It's important to know that you must upload a photo of the document to your Uber profile within 30 days of passing the inspection.
