The first step is to create an Uber account, it only takes a minute and you can do it online. Next, we’ll need you to upload a few documents for verification including your Victorian driver’s licence, proof of identification, vehicle insurance, and a valid profile photo. You can find detailed document requirements here.
To comply with government regulations you'll need a Victoria driver accreditation through Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV), previously Taxi Services Commission (TSC). You can apply for accreditation online for a fee of $74.40.
Find more information about the accreditation process on our Get a Licence page.
Note: If the documents provided in Step 1 do not indicate you have the right to work in Australia, we will conduct a VEVO check at this time in accordance with the consent you provided when signing up to drive using the Uber app.
Once your driver accreditation has been uploaded to your Uber profile, we'll invite you to have a vehicle inspection. When your vehicle has passed inspection you can apply to register the vehicle you intend to drive as a commercial passenger vehicle with Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV). This includes a $53.80 registration fee.
Tip: When you get your vehicle inspected, pick up a vehicle identification sticker, or order one here.
Whether you’re supporting your family, saving for something big, or simply like the idea of being your own boss, driving with Uber is a flexible way to make some extra money when it suits you.
