Vehicle inspections in Australia

You'll need a vehicle safety inspection to drive with Uber in your city. It’s a good idea to check your car meets your city's requirements before having it inspected.

Book an inspection

All driver-partners need to pass a vehicle inspection before taking their first trip with Uber. As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and quality, we've partnered with several third-party vehicle inspection services, including [names of companies] that can provide you with vehicle safety checks. You will need to have your vehicle inspected every 12 months (depends on your city).

Annual vehicle inspections

1. Download an inspection form

Most inspection centers have forms available, but you may want to bring one just in case.

2. Get your vehicle inspected

Note that Uber does not cover inspection costs when performed by a third-party mechanic.

3. Upload the completed form

Once you pass, upload the form and receipt to your account. Uber does not cover repairs or maintenance to pass an inspection.

Common issues to look out for


Ensure each tyre has a sufficient tread depth of at least 1.5mm. To save time, we recommend you check your tyres prior to getting an inspection.


Ensure all lights are working, including headlights, park lights, signal indicator lights and brake lights.

Body damage

Ensure the body of your car is in good condition.
