This year, Uber has partnered with Detroit’s Cobo Center to make pickups and drop offs easier–just in time for the Detroit Auto Show. From January 8-22, there will be plenty of opportunities to earn as thousands of industry leaders, press, and members of the public travel to and from Cobo to check out this year’s show. Check out our guide below to learn how to make the most of your time on the road.
Where do I do pickups and drop offs at Cobo?
As a rideshare provider of the Cobo Center, Uber has dedicated pick up and drop off space on Washington Blvd. between Fort St. and Congress St. The best way to reach the area is to enter Washington Blvd. from the northwest and exit onto Congress after completing your pickup or drop off.
When can I expect high demand for rides?
Last January, we saw a big increase in requests Downtown and near Cobo during the Auto Show. More requests = more earning opportunities for drivers like you.*
*This data is based on request data from the weeks of the 2016 Auto ShowDemand tends to spike when major events let out. This year’s major events include:
- Sun, 1/8, 3pm-7pm: Press and Industry keynote addresses
- Fri, 1/13, 5pm-10:30pm: Charity Preview – Note that parking will be extremely restricted Downtown on this night and many streets will be inaccessible to drivers. Check out more specifics on doing pick ups and drop offs at the Charity Preview.
- Sat 1/21 and Sun 1/22: Final weekend of the Public Show
For a full schedule of events, see here.
With thousands of visitors in town, you can also expect elevated demand near hotels in Downtown and Midtown as well as DTW airport.
Thanks for all you do to keep Detroit moving during the auto industry’s biggest week of the year.
