To help create a more reliable earnings experience on Black, Black SUV, and Select, we’re updating time and distance rates for these ride options in Dallas to help earnings better reflect the time you put in, no matter where a trip takes you.

We expect that per-trip earnings will stay about the same on average on these ride options as a result.

What’s changing?

We’re increasing the per-minute rate and decreasing the per-mile rate for Black, Black SUV, and Select in Dallas. Whether it’s a 2-mile trip or a 20-mile one, your time will be valued.

We’re also increasing the paid wait time threshold and increasing the per-minute wait time rate on Black and Black SUV to allow riders more flexible pickups while better compensating you for your time spent waiting on riders. While the cancellation fee and wait time thresholds will be a bit longer, you will be paid more for your time, regardless of the trip outcome.

• Wait time threshold: 5 minutes after arrival at pickup location
• Rider cancel fee threshold: 5 minutes after trip request
• Driver cancel fee threshold: 15 minutes after arrival at pickup location
• Driver cancellation fee: increasing to match minimum trip fare

While you may notice that you earn more on some trips and less on others, we expect that per-trip earnings will stay about the same on average on Black, Black SUV, and Select. We expect per-trip earnings to remain about the same on average.

• Why not just increase rates?

  The goals of this update are to give you more confidence that every trip is worth your time, even when you encounter a shorter trip, and to help create more dependable earnings from trip to trip. Watch for more improvements in the entire Black and Black SUV experience over the coming months, including how you earn on the platform.

• How will this update affect surge and promotions?

  This update will not have an impact on the way surge or other promotions are calculated. The same increased emphasis on the time you spend on a trip will be put on both surge and non-surge trips, so that your time is better taken into account.

• Does this update affect the per-minute wait fee rate?
