Celebrating Pinellas County driver-partners
Molly

Uber has been in Florida for 3 years now, and some partners have been driving with Uber for almost as long. So we wanted to show our appreciation for the driver-partners who move Florida—specifically Pinellas County—and get riders where they’re going safely and affordably.

Last Sunday, February 26, Uber hosted a driver-partner appreciation event at Countryside Lanes in Clearwater. More than 250 people attended the event, where driver-partners and their family and friends were able to bowl; play arcade games; and enjoy refreshments, a visit from Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos, and several raffles.

Driver-partners won UberEATS credits, Tampa Bay Lightning tickets, and a weekend staycation at the Kimpton Hotel Zamora in St. Pete.

At the event, Uber team members had the opportunity to chat with driver-partners about their experience driving with Uber, and it was great to hear their amazing stories and bring them together to swap tips and stories.

We met with a few driver-partners who shared some of their experiences. Here’s what they had to say:

Eugene, who’s been an Uber driver-partner for 14 months, recalled when he picked up a rider who was headed to Enterprise Rent-a-Car, but when they arrived, Enterprise was closed. Eugene said, “I’m not going to leave you alone,” and took his rider to another rental place, which was open. His rider later left a note on his Facebook saying how helpful he was.
Leon, a driver-partner since December 2016, said, “I’m a single father of 4, and Uber has provided a steady income—one that I can control—and it’s alleviated a lot of stress from paying my bills and my children being able to do different things.”
Randy, who has been a driver-partner for almost 2 years, said, “My daughter was in London on an internship for a semester, and I met her over there and we went through Europe, through about 7 different countries. It was a blast; we had a great time. I couldn’t have done that if I didn’t drive with Uber.”
Julie, a driver-partner for almost 2 years who drives when she’s not at her school crossing guard job, used to be a cab driver. “I wasn’t making any money, and I was paying more out in fees,” she said. “With Uber, I keep most everything I make—I make more money than I was driving for the cab [company].”

To all the driver-partners who attended our event: Thank you for coming, and we hope you enjoyed yourselves! We loved getting to talk with partners and their families face-to-face and hear how Uber has impacted your lives.

Thank you to Countryside Lanes for hosting the event and Kimpton Hotel Zamora, who donated a generous raffle prize!
