Driving during the summer slow season

When the college kids leave to go home for summer, the summer slowness begins to creep in. Boston’s summertime population drops by over 150,000, leading to a bit of a wind down on trips. Not all is lost, though. When the city cools down for demand, some of the beaches and other areas heat up.

Check out some pointers below for making the most of driving during the summer.

Drive during peak times

No matter what time of year it is, commuting hours, especially Monday mornings, are busy. Check your app to see if there are any available incentives at these times.

Head to the airport

The airport sees lots of traffic Sunday afternoons and evenings. Weekdays after 8pm also tend to be a bit busier. Get details on picking up at the airport here

Get organized

Downtime is a great time to start sorting your taxes and coming up with a record keeping system to get the most deductions.

Head to the beach (or mountains)

Many of the beach and mountain markets see higher demand, especially on weekends, during the summer.

Sign up to deliver with UberEATS

Delivering with UberEATS can help you fill demand gaps. Additionally, if you have a bike, you can get exercise and enjoy sunshine as an UberEATS bike courier.

Listen to audiobooks

Combine leisure with work and enjoy the downtime between trips with free audiobooks. Whether you want to learn a second language or get lost in some tunes, it’s a great way to spend some time in the car.
