Today, we’re unveiling five new films highlighting the unique backgrounds and stories of drivers and couriers from one place in particular: Brooklyn. Directed and produced by creative mastermind Spike Lee, ”Uber Presents Da Republic of Brooklyn” explores the hustle, ambition and passions of five people that have carved out their own niche in their home borough.
Lee chose the featured individuals himself from the thousands of drivers and delivery partners in Brooklyn. The films center around an aspiring actress, an art restorationist, a serial entrepreneur, a passionate carer for animals, and a hairstylist and mother of two.
“I was attracted to this project because I know a lot of people who drive on the Uber platform and it gives them the flexibility they need to pursue their dreams. That’s how we do it in Brooklyn – that’s the Brooklyn hustle.” – Spike Lee
