Uploading documents

We’ll need you to upload a few documents, including your driver’s licence and vehicle insurance. Once we’ve reviewed everything, you can download the Uber Driver app. Find more information on each document below.

Driver's licence (front)

All driver-partners must hold a valid, unrestricted Victorian driver's licence and must have held an Australian driver’s licence for at least 6 months.

The front of your driver's licence must clearly show:
  • Your full name
  • Your photo
  • Date of birth (must be over 21 years of age)
  • Licence number
  • Expiry date (in the future)
  • Licence class as unrestricted (provisional and learners licences are not accepted)
  • Your address

Driver's licence (back)

The back of your driver's licence must clearly show:
  • Expiry date (in the future)
  • Current address sticker (if applicable)

Proof of identification

To drive using the Uber app, we will need a copy of your passport or birth certificate.

The image of your passport must clearly show your:
  • Legal given names (first name and any middle names)
  • Surname
  • Birth country
  • Birth city
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
Note: The example below is of an Australian passport only. Generally, most nationality passports will be able to be used. On the other hand, we ONLY accept Australian Birth Certificate (includes Australian Birth Registration doc).

Vehicle insurance

All driver-partners in Victoria are required to show proof of third party property damage or comprehensive vehicle insurance information for each vehicle on their profile.

The provided insurance certificate of currency must clearly show:
  • Your name as either the policyholder or a listed driver
  • Your vehicle's registration
  • Your vehicle make (eg. Toyota)
  • Your vehicle model (eg. Camry)
  • Your vehicle year (eg. 2016)
  • Expiry date (in the future)

Note: Your insurance document may look different than the example, however the information listed above will still need to be visible. We must receive the information all in one single file (e.g. one image or one pdf).

Vehicle registration

All driver-partners in Victoria are required to show vehicle registration document for each vehicle on their profile.

The provided vehicle registration must clearly show:
  • Vehicle plate number
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
  • Vehicle make (eg. Toyota)
  • Vehicle model (eg. Camry)
  • Vehicle year (eg. 2016)
  • Expiry date (in the future)
How to obtain your vehicle registration details online?
  1. Go to the VicRoads website at here
  2. Select vehicle type and enter your vehicle registration number or your VIN or your Chassis number
  3. Take a screenshot of “Registration check” page or download as PDF by clicking “Download report PDF” button at the bottom of the page
  4. Upload the document to your partner account

Driver accreditation

To drive with Uber in Victoria, you must obtain a driver accreditation through the Taxi Services Commission (TSC).

The driver accreditation certificate must clearly show:
  • Your name
  • Your photo
  • Your driver’s licence number
  • Expiry date (in the future)
  • Accreditation number

Note: If you have a TSC photo ID card or proof of issue or renewal of a driver accreditation and your details can be verified against the TSC’s records then these documents may also be accepted.

Commercial Passenger Vehicle Registration

Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria (CPVV), formally the Taxi Services Commission (TSC), requires all driver-partners in Victoria to have registered their vehicle as a commercial passenger vehicle for every vehicle they wish to drive using the Uber app.

The commercial passenger vehicle registration receipt you upload must clearly show:
  • Date of issue
  • Receipt number
  • Vehicle registration number

Profile photo

All driver-partners must have an approved profile picture on their partner account. The profile photo must meet the following requirements:

  • No hats or sunglasses (regular glasses and religious garments are accepted)
  • Cannot use driver's license photo
  • Full face and top of shoulders
  • Good lighting
  • Not blurry
  • Only one person in the picture
  • Face is centered in the frame
