- How can I switch which Uber account gets the Amex Benefit in Uber Cash?
- Delete the Card from the Uber account that you don’t wish to receive the Amex Benefit from
- Add the Card as a payment method on the Uber account where you do wish to receive the Amex Benefit. If the Card is already on this account, skip this step.
- Complete steps 1 and 2 by 12am ET on the 1st of the month. The Amex Benefit will switch accounts for the new month.
- How will I receive my Amex Benefit with an American Express® Platinum Card?
You can receive up to $200 in your Uber Cash balance annually by adding your American Express® Platinum Card as a payment method on your Uber account. The Amex Benefit is distributed to your Uber Cash balance in monthly increments of $15, plus a $20 bonus in December (for $35 total in December). Your Amex Benefit in Uber Cash can be used for eligible rides and orders in the US where Uber Cash is accepted. In addition to having Uber Cash toggled on, an American Express Card must be selected as the payment method for your transaction to redeem Uber Cash received through the Amex Benefit.
- How will I receive my Amex Benefit with an American Express® Gold Card?
You can receive up to $120 in your Uber Cash balance annually by adding your American Express® Gold Card as a payment method on your Uber account. The Amex Benefit is distributed to your Uber Cash balance in monthly increments of $10. Your Amex Benefit in Uber Cash can be used for eligible rides and orders in the US where Uber Cash is accepted. In addition to having Uber Cash toggled on, an American Express Card must be selected as the payment method for your transaction to redeem Uber Cash received through the Amex Benefit.
- What if my Amex Benefit isn’t enough to cover the cost of my ride or Eats order?
When your Amex Benefit isn’t enough to cover the cost of the ride or order, the Amex Card in your Uber wallet selected for the transaction will be charged the difference. If Uber is unable to use the Amex Card in your Uber wallet to complete the transaction, the Amex Benefit will not be applied and another available payment method in your Uber wallet will be charged for the transaction.
- How does the Amex Benefit work in the app?
Uber Rides
- After adding your destination, select your ride of choice
- Make sure Uber Cash is toggled on and you see Uber Cash listed above the confirmation button
- Select an American Express Card as the payment method for your ride to redeem the Amex Benefit
- Tap on the confirmation button to request your ride
Uber Eats
- Create an order in the Uber Eats app
- Select Go to Checkout
- Before placing your order, make sure Uber Cash is toggled on and is displayed as a payment method
- Select an American Express Card as the payment method for your order to redeem the Amex Benefit
- Review and place your order
To find your Uber Cash balance, tap the account icon in the bottom right corner of your app and your balance will be visible on the next screen.
- How do I ensure that my American Express® Card is set as my default payment method in my Uber app?
- Tap Account in the bottom right corner of your app.
- Select ‘Wallet’
- Scroll down to select your ‘Ride profile’
- Under ‘Default payment’, select an American Express Card
- Keep using your Amex Uber Cash benefit on rides and orders in the US!
- Does my Amex Benefit expire?
Yes. Any unused Uber Cash received through the Amex Benefit will expire at the end of the month and will not roll over to the following month.
