Seguro

Third-party liability insurance

Insurance for bodily injury and property damage caused to a third party and arising from a covered accident. A third party is someone or something other than yourself or your vehicle.

Uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury insurance

Insurance for injuries to you and your riders if a covered accident occurs during an Uber trip and another driver is at fault and doesn’t have sufficient insurance. This insurance also may apply in the case of a hit and run.

Contingent collision and comprehensive insurance

As long as you maintain comprehensive and collision coverage on your personal auto insurance, Uber maintains insurance on your behalf that will kick in to provide protection for physical damage to your car up to its actual cash value, regardless of who is at fault. There is a $1,000 deductible that you must pay first before this coverage applies.

Beyond what Uber maintains on your behalf

Protección contra lesiones para Socios Conductores

Get additional peace of mind with benefits that include disability payments, no deductible on medical expenses, and survivor benefits. Offered via Aon, this program gives you the option of extending coverage to minimize the impact an accident could have on you and your family.

For commercial partners

As a commercial partner such as a licensed private hire vehicle, black car, or limo, you must be insured to drive commercially. To provide riders with at least the same level of protection as on trips with non-commercial drivers, we may maintain insurance above your commercial insurance, when necessary.

Preguntas frecuentes de los Socios Conductores

  • Do I need rideshare insurance?

Uber maintains auto insurance designed for ridesharing on your behalf when you’re driving on our platform. When you’re not driving with Uber, you would look to your personal auto insurance. Many personal auto insurers offer rideshare insurance endorsements that include additional coverage for rideshare drivers but this is not required for you to sign up to drive with Uber. Contact your insurance company for details.

  • Does the insurance that Uber maintains on behalf of drivers cover regular maintenance on my car?

No, as an independent contractor you’re responsible for your car maintenance.

  • If I’m in an accident, will Uber’s insurance cover a rental car for me?

No, it won’t. As long as you maintain comprehensive and collision coverage on your personal auto insurance, the insurance that Uber maintains on behalf of driver-partners will kick in. If applicable, this insurance goes toward repairs and replacement for your car up to its actual cash value. There is a $1,000 deductible that you must pay before this coverage applies.

  • What’s my coverage if I’m at fault for an accident while driving with Uber?

How much you’re insured for depends on when your accident occurred. Here’s a breakdown. You’re insured for liability to a third party if you’re in a covered accident where you’re at fault and you’re online but haven’t received a trip request yet. Coverage is at least $50,000 in injury liability per person, $100,000 in total liability per accident, and $25,000 in property damage liability per accident.

If you’re in a crash where you’re at fault and you have already accepted a ride request, you’re insured for the following in case of a covered accident:

    1) Your liability to a third party (at least $1 million).

    2) Collision and comprehensive coverage. If your personal insurance already includes this coverage, the insurance that Uber maintains will take its place for damage to your vehicle (subject to a $1,000 deductible).

  • What’s covered if someone else is at fault for the accident?

Once you’ve accepted a trip, Uber maintains Uninsured or Underinsured Motorist Bodily Injury coverage on your behalf. This protection may apply to cover bodily injuries when someone else is at fault and they don’t have enough insurance or in a case of a hit and run.

  • How are property damage and bodily injury defined?

These terms are defined by the insurance policy. For example, property damage is often defined as damage to or loss of use of tangible property, while bodily injury is often defined as injury, sickness, or disease sustained by a person, including death resulting from any of these.

  • What do I do in the event of an accident?

We’re committed to everyone’s safety. If you’re involved in an accident, follow these steps:

    1. Check that all parties involved are safe.
    2. Notify the police and paramedics if necessary.
    3. Contact us in the Help section of the Driver app. Select Trip Issues and Adjustments, and then select I was in an accident.
    4. You can also speak directly with a trained agent by going to the Help section of your Driver app and tapping Call Support.
  • What about commercially licensed and insured drivers?

Uber also partners with drivers who are commercially licensed and insured for limousine, livery, black car, or private hire. Coverage for vehicle damage and liability arising from those trips are covered by their commercial automobile insurance.
